A NEW JACKSONIAN ERA? (PART TWO)

In Part One of this article I documented the populist administration of Andrew Jackson and similarities to Donald Trump’s populist victory in the recent election. I’ll now try to assess the chances of a Trump presidency accomplishing its populist agenda.

The Trumpian Era

“But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their own selfish purposes.” Andrew Jackson

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land. What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people. January 20th, 2017 will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again. The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer.” – Donald J. Trump – Inaugural Speech

It is not a coincidence the painting in the oval office behind President Trump’s desk is of Andrew Jackson. He has promoted his presidency as a Jacksonian quest to return government to the people. His chief strategist Steve Bannon, a student of history, helped mold Trump’s speech with echoes of Jacksonian populism:

“It was an unvarnished declaration of the basic principles of his populist and kind of nationalist movement. It was given, I think, in a very powerful way. I don’t think we’ve had a speech like that since Andrew Jackson came to the White House. But you could see it was very Jacksonian. It’s got a deep, deep root of patriotism there.”

Tacitus, The Annals of Imperial Rome

“To oppose corruption in government is the highest obligation of patriotism.”

G. Edward Griffin

“Power, wrongly used, defeats the oppressor as well as the oppressed.”

Wally Lamb

“The mistake you make, don’t you see,is in thinking one can live in a corrupt society without being corrupt oneself. After all, what do you achieve by refusing to make money? You’re trying to behave as though one could stand right outside our economic system. But one can’t. One’s got to change the system, or one changes nothing. One can’t put things right in a hole-and-corner way, if you take my meaning.”

George Orwell

“. . . in no instance has a system in regard to religion been ever established, but for the purpose, as well as with the effect of its being made an instrument of intimidation, corruption, and delusion, for the support of depredation and oppression in the hands of governments.”

Jeremy Bentham

QUOTES OF THE DAY

“Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts… perhaps the fear of a loss of power.”

John Steinbeck

“A man who has never gone to school may steal a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad.”

Theodore Roosevelt

“In the present case it is a little inaccurate to say I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible to any public office of trust or profit in the Republic. But I do not repine, for I am a subject of it only by force of arms.”

H.L. Mencken

“Corrupt politicians make the other ten percent look bad.”

Henry Kissinger

“It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.”

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

Friedrich Nietzsche

“The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.”

Friedrich Nietzsche

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”

Carl Sagan

GETTING IN BED WITH THE GOVERNMENT

The recent deal to keep Carrier jobs in the United States is not at all unusual. It only received so much press because Trump made it a campaign issue and saw an opportunity to record a big early PR victory before he even took office. Government and corporations cooperate, negotiate deals, scratch each others backs, kickback ill-gotten gains, and function as a career advancement funnel for corrupt politicians.

In reality, the intertwining of government and big business meets the definition of fascism. A centralized autocratic government that picks winners and losers, while suppressing un-favored companies or industries, meets the definition of fascism. Fascists let business remain in private hands, but use regulations, laws, tax benefits, and the distribution of goodies to control the economy. Big business serves politicians and government bureaucrats instead of their customers.

Our corporate fascist economic system benefits big businesses who have hundreds of lawyers, lobbyists, tax specialists, and accountants to comply with the tens of thousands of government regulations, indecipherable tax code, and ridiculous laws, while small businesses are driven into the ground. Small businesses have no political influence and no ability to influence the corrupt system. The big connected conglomerates receive the government subsidies, tax breaks, and preferential treatment. Corporate fascism at its finest.

Will Trump save America like Putin saved Russia?

First of all, the narrator has a TERRIFIC voice!

Why watch a 15 min video?  Because the similarities between America today and Russia when Putin took power is simply remarkable

—– Russia had one percenters (oligarchs),  bankers out of control, massive corruption in politics, a mass media which engaged in nothing but lies to serve those in power, a disgruntled and discouraged populace, a piss poor economy and their own version of incredibly powerful neocons and secret cabals.  Sound familiar?

Putin decided the most important thing to tackle first was …. corruption.

Two things Putin did that Donald must do:  1) staff his White House and Cabinet positions with outsiders, just like himself and 2) go after the corrupt motherfuckers quickly and hard … and WIN … starting from Day 1, literally.

“Power attracts the corruptible. Suspect any who seek it.”

LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT

Guest Post by Stilton Jarlsberg

Democrats and Republicans alike are all aflutter following Donald Trump’s refusal to say that he’ll automatically accept November’s election results without first determining that the results are actually honest. “My stars!” the media is gasping while reaching for smelling salts, loosening their corsets, and briskly flapping lace fans near their faces.

Well here’s a little Hope n’ Change bulletin we’d like to add: we will never accept Hillary Clinton as president of the United States. She will never be “our” president, and we will never accept the legitimacy of the appallingly corrupt process which has gotten her this close to the White House.

Granted, it’s entirely possible that Donald Trump, in his infinite and annoying Trumpiness, would have the ability to lose any election including one which was entirely fair – but the Left isn’t taking that chance. Thanks to Wikileaks and Project Veritas, we now know that this entire election cycle has been shaped by the Democrats’ flood of dirty money, dirty deeds, systemic corruption, and collusion with the media.

We know that Hillary and her cronies hold the American people in complete contempt, and that their idea of irredeemable “deplorables” not only includes hardcore Trump supporters, but virtually every person of faith, every person who believes in the sanctity of life, and every person who believes this should be a nation of laws and equal justice for all.

By definition, Hillary Clinton is an illegitimate candidate, and there is nothing that can happen on November 8th which could make her a legitimate president in our eyes.

Sometimes, a news story is so ripe that we can’t make up our minds about what comedic direction to take – especially if it involves Joe Biden. So here’s a Monday twofer!

In case you’re lucky enough not to know the convoluted tale that we’re referring to, the Obama administration has accused Russia of hacking the email accounts of Hillary, her campaign manager, and Democrats in general and giving the information to Wikileaks in order to criminally influence our sacred national election by revealing the truth about how despicable everyone on the left is.

Hope n’ Change isn’t buying the whole “Russian plot” scenario for several reasons: it’s of no obvious benefit to Putin, the theory is being advanced by congenital liars who are in full fanny-covering mode, and so far zero evidence of Russian involvement has been offered. Frankly, we think this is all an orchestrated con game intended to soften up Americans for government seizure of the election process in the name of “security.”

But that hasn’t stopped Joe Biden (apparently taking time off from his extra-special presidential “moonshot” assignment to cure cancer) from declaring that the U.S. is about to engage in a full-blown cyber attack on Russia. Although the odds of our pulling off a sneak cyber attack just got a helluva lot worse thanks to the motor-mouthed veep.

More Illegal Immigrant Voters Discovered In Philly – “Just The Tip Of The Iceberg”

Tyler Durden's picture

Over the past few weeks, we’ve written frequently about allegations of voter fraud from around the country.  The key swing state of Virginia, in particular, seems to be a hotbed of potential corruption as evidenced by the actions of 19 year old “Young Virginia Democrat”, Andrew Spieles, who allegedly acted alone to re-register a bunch of dead voters in his home state (see our post here).  Then there were the efforts of Virginia’s governor, and long-time Clinton confidant, Terry McAuliffe to register 200,000 felons to vote.

But Virginia, isn’t the only state with questionable voter registration practices.  Fraudulent voter registrations have been uncovered in Colorado, where dead people were found to be voting multiple years after their death, and in Washington where the Turkish-born, non-citizen who killed five people at the Cascade Mall massacre has apparently been voting for years.

Now, the latest voter registration fraud comes from the “City of Brotherly Love” where, according to LifeZette, an investigation by Joseph Vanderhulst, an attorney with the Public Interest Legal Foundation, revealed that 86 “non-citizens” have been registered to vote in Phildelphia for years with half of them casting ballots in at least 1 election.  What’s worse, the only reason Philadelphia election officials were even able to identify the “non-citizen” voters was because they had self-reported that they were erroneously registered to vote after a trip to the DMV to get a drivers license.  According to Vanderhulst’s investigation, the DMV “errs on the side of registering voters” if there are any discrepancies on their forms.

Norway’s Link to Clinton Foundation & Obama — Corruption to Create World War III

Norway’s pay-off to the Clinton Foundation was strategic. According to Norad, during the period 2007 to 2015, Norway sent 584 million to the Clinton Foundation. For the next three years, they promised them a further 92 million. These vast donations from Norway appear to have made Stoltenberg the head of NATO and Obama the Nobel Peace Prize.

Blatant Union Greed:Chicago Teachers Set Strike Date Oct 11

Submitted by Michael Shedlock via MishTalk.com,

Chicago teachers have a 13% raise (over four years) offer on the table, but that is not enough. They set a strike date of October 11 because the city wants the union to contribute more than 2% for their underfunded pensions, among the worst funded pensions in the nation.

The Chicago public school system is bankrupt. Its bonds are deep in junk status.

If mayor Rahm Emanuel had any brains, he would be begging Governor Bruce Rauner and House Speaker Michael Madigan for legislation that would allow municipalities and taxing bodies the right to declare bankruptcy.

There are two words that describe the current state of affairs: Greed and Corruption.

What follows is a guest post courtesy of Union Watch.

Brave Cop Fired for NOT Killing a Man Who Was Attempting Suicide By Cop

September 12, 2016

Weirton, WV — Weirton police officer Stephen Mader exhibited extreme bravery and restraint earlier this year when he chose not to kill a suicidal man. For displaying such courage and reserve, Mader’s department fired him.

On May 6, 2016, Mader responded to a call about a domestic incident. When he showed up to the call, Mader confronted Ronald D. Williams Jr., 23, who was armed and in a diminished mental state.

Madar said that he began talking to the young man in his “calm voice.”

“I told him, ‘Put down the gun,’ and he’s like, ‘Just shoot me.’ And I told him, ‘I’m not going to shoot you brother.’ Then he starts flicking his wrist to get me to react to it.

“I thought I was going to be able to talk to him and de-escalate it. I knew it was a suicide-by-cop” situation.
