Crony Capitalism, Bureaucrats, And Monopolists: America’s Modern Scourge

Via The Blue State Conservative

Destruction of the US by inner infections

A recent union-management battle at General Electric over masks provides an interesting insight into the current struggle/alliance between Monopolists and Government Bureaucrats for societal control.  A union worker from the jet engine production line stated “they can’t fire us because of our skill level.  Management is easily replaceable though.”

That statement opens a completely new insight into our current economic system.  A university degree carried quite a bit of weight in society 50 years ago.  Today it is just another alphabet soup behind your name to be dragged out the door with your severance pay.

The Economics of Disaster Capitalism

Economics

If we look at what is taking place, what seems glaringly obvious to me is that there is a coordinated demolition of entire countries, their business sectors, and with this financial ruin a top-down approach to “fixing” the ruin is being enacted.

Step no 1: Ruin small businesses and individuals’ financial situation.

Step no 2: Offer them handouts/loans (UBI for individuals) and loans for corporates. This does two things. For individuals, it enslaves them like an animal that was wild and hunted for its food and survival (self-sufficient) to one which no longer hunts for its food but rather paces in a cage awaiting its daily rations.

Step no 3: Entire nations fall into the same trap. A debt trap. It is no surprise that the IMF, World Bank, and UN are acting as the pointy end of this same strategy. Making loans (unpayable) in return for locking down (Belarus affair highlighted this). Anyone can see that if you take a loan with the promise to destroy your business in order to obtain the loan, then you’ll be indebted forever. And yet that’s what entire countries have done and are doing.

So, what happens now?

A MAN’S GOTTA KNOW HIS LIMITATIONS

A man's got to know his limitations (HD) - YouTube

As I’ve been observing the actions and justifications of men like Jerome Powell, Anthony Fauci, Andrew Cuomo, Joe Biden and Donald Trump during this self-inflicted global depression, I can’t help but channel the iconic American actor Clint Eastwood and his most famous role – Dirty Harry, when assessing whether they have an understanding of their limitations. If a man doesn’t know his limitations, he can ruin his own life.

When men in positions of immense power don’t know their limitations, they can ruin the world, destroying the lives of millions and propelling the world towards a catastrophic financial collapse and likely global conflict. Our benevolent leaders act as if they know what is best for mankind, when they are actually flailing about blindly, corrupted by their own power and wealth, leading us on a path to destruction, because their immense egos won’t allow them to humbly admit their dreadful mistakes and take corrective actions.

Gangster State Capitalism

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Hanne Herland of the European Herland Report has just had her book published in which she argues that the ruling elite has resurrected feudalism by financializing the economy and offshoring middle class jobs.  The title is New Left Tyranny, but it is about gangster state capitalism.

https://www.amazon.com/NEW-LEFT-TYRANNY-Authoritarian-Destruction/dp/1949586081/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Hanne+Herland&qid=1590954827&s=books&sr=1-2

Historically, capitalism freed labor from bondage by making labor the private property of the person. Serfs who owed labor obligations to lords became free individuals. Free labor markets and emergent capitalism made productive by technological advancements created with time rising living standards and a free people determined to protect their independence by holding government accountable.

QUOTES OF THE DAY

So says the Lord:
‘They have forgotten how to do right,
those who store up in their fortresses
the wealth that they have plundered and looted.’

Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
‘An enemy will overcome your power,
pull down your citadels of advantage,
and plunder your institutions of oppression.’

Amos 3:10-11

“Capitalism is at risk of failing today not because we are running out of innovations, or because markets are failing to inspire private actions, but because we’ve lost sight of the operational failings of unfettered gluttony. We are neglecting a torrent of market failures in infrastructure, finance, and the environment. We are turning our backs on a grotesque worsening of income inequality and willfully continuing to slash social benefits. We are destroying the Earth as if we are indeed the last generation.”

Jeffrey Sachs

“Caution in handling ‘generally accepted opinions’ that claim to explain whole trends of history is especially important for the historian of modern times, because the last century has produced an abundance of ideologies that pretend to be keys to history but are actually nothing but desperate efforts to escape responsibility.”

Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism

“[Henry Paulson] is wrong. It [financial crisis] is a failure of regulation. In fact, one of the ironies of this whole discussion is they want to give more power to the Fed. The Fed, which flooded the market with liquidity, which did not put in regulations until after the crisis, In fact, closing the barn door after the horse is out. And now to reward them for their excellent job, they want to give them more power.”

Joseph Stiglitz, Lou Dobbs Show, March 2009

“Capitalism is contradictory as soon as it is complete [unfettered]; because it is dealing with the mass of men in two opposite ways at once. When most men are wage-earners, it is more and more difficult for most men to be customers. For the capitalist is always trying to cut down what his servant demands, and in doing so is cutting down what his customer can spend. He is wanting the same man to be rich and poor at the same time.”

G. K. Chesterton

More Lies From The Corrupt Elite

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

For two decades the offshoring of American jobs to Asia and Mexico has destroyed the careers and incomes of tens of millions of US citizens, the pension tax base for state and local governments, the federal tax base for Social Security and Medicare, and the opportunity society that once characterized the United States of America.

The rise in corporate profits that resulted from substituting foreign labor for American labor rewarded corporate executives and boards, hedge funds, large shareholders, and Wall Street with profits at the expense of the American population and the US economy.

GETTING IN BED WITH THE GOVERNMENT

The recent deal to keep Carrier jobs in the United States is not at all unusual. It only received so much press because Trump made it a campaign issue and saw an opportunity to record a big early PR victory before he even took office. Government and corporations cooperate, negotiate deals, scratch each others backs, kickback ill-gotten gains, and function as a career advancement funnel for corrupt politicians.

In reality, the intertwining of government and big business meets the definition of fascism. A centralized autocratic government that picks winners and losers, while suppressing un-favored companies or industries, meets the definition of fascism. Fascists let business remain in private hands, but use regulations, laws, tax benefits, and the distribution of goodies to control the economy. Big business serves politicians and government bureaucrats instead of their customers.

Our corporate fascist economic system benefits big businesses who have hundreds of lawyers, lobbyists, tax specialists, and accountants to comply with the tens of thousands of government regulations, indecipherable tax code, and ridiculous laws, while small businesses are driven into the ground. Small businesses have no political influence and no ability to influence the corrupt system. The big connected conglomerates receive the government subsidies, tax breaks, and preferential treatment. Corporate fascism at its finest.

Wikileaks Releases Hillary’s Paid Wall Street Speech Transcripts: Hundreds Of “Sensitive” Excerpts

But Trump said something mean about a woman.

Tyler Durden's picture

While the media is transfixed with the just released Washington Post leak of a private Donald Trump conversation from 2005 in which he was speaking “lewdly” about women, and for which he has apologized, roughly at the same time, Wikileaks released part one of what it dubbed the “Podesta emails“, which it describes as “a series on deals involving Hillary Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta. Mr Podesta is a long-term associate of the Clintons and was President Bill Clinton’s Chief of Staff from 1998 until 2001. Mr Podesta also owns the Podesta Group with his brother Tony, a major lobbying firm and is the Chair of the Center for American Progress (CAP), a Washington DC-based think tank.”

While the underlying story in this specific case involves the alleged kickbacks received by the Clinton Foundation from the Russian government-controlled “Uranium One”, a story which has been profiled previously by the NYT, and about which Wikileaks adds that “as Russian interests gradually took control of Uranium One millions of dollars were donated to the Clinton Foundation between 2009 and 2013 from individuals directly connected to the deal including the Chairman of Uranium One, Ian Telfer. Although Mrs Clinton had an agreement with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors to the Clinton Foundation, the contributions from the Chairman of Uranium One were not publicly disclosed by the Clintons”, what caught our attention is an email from Tony Carr, a Research Director at Hillary for America, in which he lay outs hundreds of excerpts from the heretofore missing transcripts of Hillary Clinton’s infamous Wall Street speeches, with an emphasis on those which should be flagged as they may be damaging to Hillary.

But first, here are the greatest hits as conveniently flagged by the Clinton Campaign itself on page one of the 80 page addendum dubbed “awkward”

Hillary Clinton: “I’m Kind Of Far Removed” From The Struggles Of The Middle Class “Because The Life I’ve Lived And The Economic, You Know, Fortunes That My Husband And I Now Enjoy.” “And I am not taking a position on any policy, but I do think there is a growing sense of anxiety and even anger in the country over the feeling that the game is rigged.  And I never had that feeling when I was growing up.  Never. I mean, were there really rich people, of course there were.  My father loved to complain about big business and big government, but we had a solid middle class upbringing.  We had good public schools.  We had accessible health care.  We had our little, you know, one-family house that, you know, he saved up his money, didn’t believe in mortgages.  So I lived that.  And now, obviously, I’m kind of far removed because the life I’ve lived and the economic, you know, fortunes that my husband and I now enjoy, but I haven’t forgotten it.”  [Hillary Clinton Remarks at Goldman-Black Rock, 2/4/14]

Elon’s Space Pinto

Guest Post by Eric Peters

Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket recently had trouble getting off the ground – well, in one piece – and it’s an awfully long way to Mars.space-pinto-lead

There’s also an awful lot of money involved.

Taxpayer money.

Hundreds of millions of dollars in government contracts. Which Musk hopes to wrangle for his Space Pinto – er, SpaceX rocket. It’s the ballistic version of his Tesla electric car.

Both seem to have issues with catching on fire.

And burning through cash.

Houston, we have a problem.

Maybe that’s why SpaceX is shopping conspiracy theories that “someone” (hinted-at rival for government payload payola United Launch Alliance) deliberately monkey-wrenched the rocket – like Gary Seven, from the original Star Trek series, Assignment Earth. Or maybe sniped at it with a rifle from the roof of a building more than a mile away, Texas School Book Depository-style.

Now Uncle is “Investing” in Tesla

Guest Post by Eric Peters

Elon Musk may be the ultimate crony capitalist – the PT Barnum of our time.Barnum lead

But to give PT his due, he was an honest con man.

He never used the government to make his marks hand over their money. People stepped right up without a bayonet in their backs.

Elon, on the other hand, depends entirely on the coercive power of government to line his pockets. Take that away and Musk goes away.

Unfortunately, he’s not going away. He’s going deeper.

Automotive News reports that Musk is not only fleecing taxpayers via multi-tiered subsidies for his electric turduckens. That’s old news.

Here’s the latest news:

The Michigan Department of Treasury has bought (with funds fleeced from taxpayers) 339,623 shares of Tesla stock – the proceeds of this “investment” (if there ever are any) to be used to fund the pensions of retired state workers.

Priceless.

The small termites helping feed the queen – so to speak.

The Anti-Tesla Gets No Love

Guest Post by Eric Peters

It’s interesting that the car That Makes Sense – economically and functionally – gets almost no press while cars that don’t (like the Tesla and other electric cars) do.Elio lead

Elio Motors (company web site here) had a near-production-ready car on on display at the New York Auto Show last week. Company founder Paul Elio gave a presentation to reporters and took questions.

Bet you didn’t hear a thing about it.

This is downright Weird.

You’d think the media would be champing at the bit to let the public know that there is a car on the verge of production (with 41,000 of them already spoken for via cash-down reservations) that – according to Paul Elio – will cost well under $10,000 (under $8,000 is the target) and go well over 80 miles on a gallon of gasoline.

CHOICES

Who do you prefer to steal your money? Liberals, Unions, Global warmists, and the Free Shit Army? Or mega corporations, Wall Street, the military industrial complex, and the health industry complex?

The sad part is that today the working middle class is getting robbed by both.

CRONY CAPITALISM – AMERICAN STYLE

Via Jesse

“For decades the American financial system was stable and safe. But then something changed. The financial industry turned it’s back on society, corrupted our political system and plunged the world economy into crisis. At enormous cost, we’ve avoided disaster and are recovering.

But the men and institutions that caused the crisis are still in power and that needs to change. They will tell us that we need them and that what they do is too complicated for us to understand. They will tell us it won’t happen again. They will spend billions fighting reform. It won’t be easy.

But some things are worth fighting for.”

ITS MOURNING IN CANTERICA

Eric Cantor is a neocon fascist of the worst order.  Nothing but a pig lounging in the corruption and filth that is Washington DC.,  a Ron-Paul hater and a lover of  oligarchy, “too big to fail” and crony capitalism.  Naturally the Zionists love him.  Know your Enemy.

‘Numb, speechless, sad’, Israel supporters grieve Cantor’s loss

Cantor at 2011 AIPAC conference, photo from the lobby group

House Majority leader Eric Cantor’s stunning defeat in the Republican primary in a Richmond, Virginia, district last night is big news, and it has a Middle East angle. Cantor is a leading defender of Israel’s rightwing government in the Congress; he once said he would side with Israeli prime minister Netanyahu against Obama. Cantor is also one of the most prominent Jews in American politics, the leading Jew in the Republican Party, highest-ranking Jew ever in the Congress.

The New York Times news analysis puts the religious angle in the tenth paragraph, though an analyst describes it as the “elephant in the room.”

David Wasserman, a House political analyst at the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, said another, more local factor has to be acknowledged: Mr. Cantor, who dreamed of becoming the first Jewish speaker of the House, was culturally out of step with a redrawn district that was more rural, more gun-oriented and more conservative.

“Part of this plays into his religion,” Mr. Wasserman said. “You can’t ignore the elephant in the room.”

Wasserman is a bit of a crank on the anti-Semitism angle:

“There will be lots of 2nd guessing tmw on Cantor loss #VA07,” [Wasserman] tweeted. “Surely will focus on debt ceiling/leadership role, but his religion a role too?”

Cantor famously once sided with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu over Obama, when the two administrations were disagreeing. After a meeting with the P.M.,Cantor’s office said:

Eric stressed that the new Republican majority will serve as a check on the Administration and what has been, up until this point, one party rule in Washington. He made clear that the Republican majority understands the special relationship between Israel and the United States, and that the security of each nation is reliant upon the other.

Politico highlights the Jewish angle:

The dream of a Jewish Republican speaker of the House is no more.

Matt Brooks, the president of the Republican Jewish Coalition, went so far as to call Cantor’s defeat “one of those incredible, evil twists of fate that just changed the potential course of history.”

“Cantor serves up a schadenfreude Sundae,” Adam Horowitz says, and here’s more Matt Brooks to the JTA:

“We’re all processing it,” said Matt Brooks, the president of the Republican Jewish Coalition. “He was an invaluable leader, he was so integral to the promotion of, to congressional support of the pro-Israel agenda. It is a colossal defeat not just for Republicans, but for the entire Jewish community.”…

Brooks seems to have a point. Even Hillary supporter Steve Rabinowitz mourns Cantor’s defeat to the JTA:

“Wearing my mainstream Jewish skullcap its clear the community needs people like Eric Cantor,” he said. “This is a loss for the Jewish community. I have my disagreements with him, but he’s been there for the community.”

Oh, and the camp counselor is no more. Politico‘s Alexander Burns states:

Now, with Cantor’s defeat, there’s no longer a point man to help organize trips to Israel for junior GOP lawmakers.

Cantor’s conqueror gave a religious spin to primary night. MSNBC:

In victory, [Tom] Brat quoted scripture: “I went to my family and this little note is hanging on my door every day and I read this every day. It’s Luke 18:27. Jesus replied, ‘What is impossible with man is possible with God.’”

More Matt Brooks schadenfreude:

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach is wearing black too, and says the people of Virginia made a mistake:

MJ Rosenberg says the defeat will change history, it’s a bad day for AIPAC and for Israel firsters who want a confrontation with Iran:

Most significant of all, AIPAC lost its #1 enforcer in the majority party.

Among Democrats (who are essentially powerless in the House), AIPAC has no problem, beginning with Minority Leader Steny Hoyer, Cantor’s counterpart. And dozens of Jewish Democrats.

But among House Republicans, there is only Cantor to effectively fight against negotiating with Iran, against opposing Israeli settlement expansion and, in general, carrying Binyamin Netanyahu’s portfolio in one hand and Sheldon Adelson’s checkbook in the other.

I’m not saying that there aren’t hundreds of Republicans (especially the Bible thumpers) who will aspire to carry Netanyahu’s agenda, but none have his unique attributes: Jewish, Majority Leader, Next Speaker! Not even close.

Cantor was the ball game. And he is irreplaceable.

Especially on Iran. When Matt Brooks, the Republican Jewish activist, says that Cantor’s defeat was an “evil twist of fate” that will change history, it is Iran he was talking about

“Oy vey,” says Politico. While JTA says Jewish Republicans are in mourning and “bereft“.

Update: The New Republic’s Jason Zengerle says it’s about money. That’s why Cantor was such a prominent Republican, because he tapped in to the new pools of dough. Hardheaded reporting:

Over the course of his 14 years in Washington, Cantor never ignored that [Jewish] elephantand often tried to exploit it. This was most evident when it came to fundraising, which was the foundation of the Cantor political operation.

Back in 2002, Cantor was given a place on the House Republican leadership team as a mere freshman largely because, as a former GOP congressman once explained to me, the fact that Cantor is Jewish gave him “access to donors we didn’t typically have access to.” Cantor not only helped the GOP fundraising machine make inroads into the big-money (and typically Democratic) Jewish precincts in Los Angeles, Miami, and New York; he also helped GOP congressmen tap their local Jewish communities for money. Nearly every House Republican I’ve ever spoken to about Cantor’s fundraising prowess has a story about the Virginia congressman parachuting into their districts and paying a visit to the local Friends of Israel or Jewish Federation on their behalves. “If you want to have him come and speak to the Jewish community in Charleston, he’s willing to do that,” West Virginia Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito once told me.
