GET ‘EM WHILE THEY’RE HOT!

The US MINT is celebrating it’s 225th anniversary this year with a makeover for Lady Liberty who has graced our coinage for two centuries. In no particular order here are some of those coins:

BOWLING ALONE

Guest Post by Hardscrabble Farmer

Robert Putman’s Bowling Alone pretty much sums it all up. More diversity equals less cohesion. If we want diverse people from diverse cultures with diverse beliefs and mores, then we can have no expectation that our systems, traditions, behaviors and customs will have any more weight or priority than theirs.

Asians don’t mind crowding up into the personal space that would make most European-descended folks cringe, African folks have a volume control that pushes the top end while Northern European types barely speak above a whisper. The result is self-segregation and that’s all we see in America today, media and advertising images notwithstanding.

Quick story about the exact opposite experience.

Irrepressible Conflict

Guest Post by The Zman

This long, rambling post by Jonathan Haidt is interesting for a number of reasons. Haidt is one of the few mainstream intellectuals who takes the hate-thinker community seriously. He’s not an ally, but he does not dismiss, out of hand, the cultural and moral arguments coming from the Right. Recently he has been writing about the popular resistance to globalism popping up all over the West. He appears to be searching for a way to reconcile elite globalism with what I call national populism.

Given what is happening at the ballot box, the next big thing among public intellectuals will be crafting ways to repackage globalism in order to make it more palatable to a skeptical public. The political class is in a panic, as all their old tricks are suddenly not fooling anyone. As a result, there is a demand for new rhetoric and tactics, but also a demand for new polices that will appeal to the voters. One thing public intellectuals do not do is miss an opportunity to monetize a crisis.

The Consequences of Being Politically Incorrect

Guest Post by Eric Peters

Well, at least they aren’t sending us to camps… yet.

That’s probably next. One thing does follow another, like dominos. The logic of it being as inexorable, ultimately, as gravitational pull.

So I ought not to be surprised that GM has pulled its panties tight and told me I will no longer be granted access to GM press vehicles because of the article (this one) I wrote a few weeks back about GM’s retiring Vice President of Diversity, the right reverend Dr. Eric Peterson, LLD, DDS.

Well, GM hasn’t said it’s because of that.

Sort of like not mentioning the role of the Moon’s pull on the inflow of the tide.

Vice President of Diversity

Guest Post by Eric Peters

They used to hire mainly engineers to work at car companies. Where they used to mainly design and build cars.peterson

Now they have vice presidents of diversity.

At least, GM does.

A guy named Eric Peterson (no relation to this writer) just resigned the gig, where he worked with the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers, whose president lauded Peterson as a “champion” and a “trailblazer” for “diversity.”

Translation: He used race guilt to pressure GM into making special accommodations for dealerships owned by non-whites.

And, of course, women.

Skin color (and genitalia) rather than the “content of their character” being the decisive factor.

Peterson says that “…people are the most important resource we have” and that “(we) should nurture and develop them to their maximum potential.”

Certain people.

Diversity: A Civilizational Nightmare

A tribulation of following the news is the desperate peddling—it would appall an Amway salesman– of diversity, said to be our strength. Oh? Exactly why it is our strength is never specified. It seems to have brought no benefit beyond crime, rape, and genital mutilation. While the desirability of these advances is beyond dispute, it nonetheless seems to me that diversity has minor drawbacks worthy of consideration.

So, brothels and cisterns, let us look at some of the resplendent marvels of diversity, and the onward march of human betterment and happiness attendant thereunto. What have been the relations between:

In Germany, Germans and Moslems. In Canada, Frogs, Anglos, and Indians. In the US, blacks, whites, browns, and Moslems. In Sri Lanka, Tamils and Sinhalese. In Sweden, Swedes and Moslems. In Ireland, Prots and Catholics.  In Rwanda, Hutus and Tutsis, or maybe Tutus and Hutsis. In India, Hindus and Moslems among others. In Israel, Jews and Arabs. In France, French and Moslems. In Sudan, Moslems and Christians. In South Africa, Xhosa, Bantus, and whites. In Iraq and elsewhere, Shias and Sunnis. In Xian Jiang, Chinese and Moslems.  In Spain, Basques, Catalans, and the rest. In Germany, Jews and Germans. In Turkey, Turks and Armenians and Kurds. In ISIS-land, Moslems and Christians, Sunnis and Shias. In Indonesia, Indonesians and Chinese. In Holland, Dtuch and Moslems.

Most of these happy proximities have produced bloodbaths, actual genocide or attempts at it, forced migration as when Uganda threw out its Indians, mass butchery by machete as in Rwanda, repeated bombings in London, and such like exuberances. Other disasters are still only in the simmering stage. Americans are among those being simmered.

The Sad State of Education

Guest Post by Monty Pelerin

education animal-house-posters[1]

politicallycorrect1I taught for about ten years at the college and graduate school level. That ended about twenty years ago and things were bad then. However, the sad state of education has only become sadder.

Periodic feedback from former friends and colleagues never fails to amaze me. Each new bit of information trumps what preceded it. The nonsense that now passes for education is unrecognizable by anyone who has been outside of college for a couple of decades or more. The sad state of education appears to have changed to the sad state of time wasting while inflating one’s own and colleagues egos. Omphaloskepsis (“contemplation of one’s navel as an aid to meditation”) would be more valuable than what passes for scholarship these days.

Here is a blurb from Louisiana State University regarding their latest attempts to advance knowledge for the benefit of mankind (er, I should say personkind):

THE HOUSE I LIVE IN …. (or, why can’t we all get along?)

Newark was a relatively nice place when we first moved there around 1958. It was clean and it smelled nice. You had a Portuguese section (still there), Pollacks, Dago’s, Irish, Krauts, Russians, and Jews all in close proximity, and getting along just swell. Sure, some of the kids didn’t like me, the nazi Kraut, but that was usually after their parents told them I was evil. Five year old kids, left to themselves, are generally not political and/or racist. We were happy just to get a team together for stick-ball (in the streets), or even for a good game of hide&seek … nationality or color really didn’t cross our young minds. Anyway, the choices of various ethnic foods from all the tiny mom&pop deli’s was simply astounding, and delicious. Not many kids have an amusement park a stone’s throw from their house! It was a nice way to grow up, considering Newark is a big city.

By 1968, all those shops were gone, the blacks rioted and burned down nearby Springfield Avenue, and other areas … and they ruined everything. The lovely ethnic diversity never recovered, as Newark today is a one or two color shithole. Oh, noes … you’re a raayccisss prick! Bite me! That’s exactly what happened. I was there, saw it with my own eyes. To answer my own question, I think I could get along with any group of people, except blacks. They really need their own state. In another thread I proposed we give them New Jersey …. and throw in Connecticut, if necessary.

ONLY THING MISSING IS BRUCE/CAITLYN JENNER

They should have had a full body ad with them all wearing red pumps. Maybe they will have transgender brigades. I’m sure the Muslims, Russians and Chinese are shaking in their boots about potentially going up against our diverse military forces.

Experienced, Educated and Diverse. That cracks me up. The military recruiting centers are in the poorest black neighborhoods so they can gather up the unemployed, uneducated dregs of society as their cannon fodder.

Not the Onion: Obama Wants to “Diversify” America’s Wealthy Neighborhoods

Section 8 coming to your neighborhood, whether you like it or not. I wonder if Obama will diversify the Hamptons or the NYC penthouse community.

Heading into the last quarter of Obama’s presidency we heard time and time again that these two years would be the most dangerous for the Republic. His disdain for working with Congress, contempt for the Constitution, and propensity to act unilaterally would only be magnified in the remaining days of his term—after all, he’d go big because he’s going home.

Now that he’s made everything from health care to immigration precipitously worse, next up on the list is an experiment in social engineering.

The Onion The Hill reports:

The Obama administration is moving forward with regulations designed to help diversify America’s wealthier neighborhoods, drawing fire from critics who decry the proposal as executive overreach in search of an “unrealistic utopia.”

A final Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rule due out this month is aimed at ending decades of deep-rooted segregation around the country.

The regulations would use grant money as an incentive for communities to build affordable housing in more affluent areas while also taking steps to upgrade poorer areas with better schools, parks, libraries, grocery stores and transportation routes as part of a gentrification of those communities.

“HUD is working with communities across the country to fulfill the promise of equal opportunity for all,” a HUD spokeswoman said. “The proposed policy seeks to break down barriers to access to opportunity in communities supported by HUD funds.”
