Elizabeth Warren is “calling your bluff”

Guest Post by Simon Black

Herodes Atticus was born in the year 101 AD into a wealthy family in Greece, which at the time was part of the Roman Empire.

During Emperor Hadrian’s rule, Herodes petitioned for public funds to build a proper water system in the famed city of Troy.

When the water system cost more than double what Herodes had estimated, Hadrian expressed his displeasure.

But Herodes’ father wrote to Hadrian, saying “Do not, O Emperor, allow yourself to be irritated over such trifles. The amount spent in excess of 3,000,000 [drachmas] I am presenting to my son, and my son will present to the city.”

(3 million ancient Greek drachmas is roughly $11 million US dollars today.)

‘Those of us who did the right thing get screwed’: Father confronts Warren on student loan plan

Via The Washington Examiner

A father confronted Elizabeth Warren about her plan to forgive student loan debt in a tense face-to-face conversation, asserting that those who paid for college tuition themselves would get “screwed” under her proposal.

He spoke to the Massachusetts Democratic senator in a photo line after a presidential campaign town hall event in Grimes, Iowa, on Monday.

“I just wanted to ask one question. My daughter is getting out of school. I’ve saved all my money. She doesn’t have any student loans. Am I going to get my money back?” the man in an embroidered leather jacket asked Warren.

“Of course not,” the Massachusetts senator, 70, responded.

“So you’re going to pay for people who didn’t save any money and those of us who did the right thing get screwed,” he said.

Billionaire hedge fund manager Leon Cooperman says Sen. Elizabeth Warren “represents the worst in politicians,” and that “she doesn’t know who the fuck she’s tweeting” after the Massachusetts Democrat’s latest salvo against the rich.

A new ad by Warren, titled “Elizabeth Warren Stands Up to Billionaires,” targets Cooperman, along with former CEO of TD Ameritrade Joe Ricketts, former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein and Silicon Valley investor Peter Thiel according to CNBC.

In it, Cooperman – who joked in September that “they won’t open the stock market if Elizabeth Warren is the next president – has the words “CHARGED WITH INSIDER TRADING” superimposed over his face.

Will ‘Sexist’ White Males Derail Warren?

Guest Post by Pat Buchanan

Will 'Sexist' White Males Derail Warren?

The three white males are denigrating and piling on the woman who is the front-runner with attacks on her personality for which conservatives, if they used such tactics, would be charged with “dog-whistling” the white working class.

After celebrating Tuesday’s takeover of Virginia’s legislature and the Kentucky governorship, the liberal establishment appears poised to crush its biggest threat: the surging candidacy of Elizabeth Warren.

From the tempo and tenor of the attacks, establishment fears of Warren’s success are real — and understandably so.

Two Wednesday polls show Warren running even with Joe Biden nationally. And a new Iowa poll shows Warren in front of the field with 20%, and Biden falling into fourth place with 15%.

Liz Warren Offers To Meet Bill Gates, Explain “Exactly How Much He’d Pay” Under Her Wealth Tax

Via ZeroHedge

Just like matter and anti-matter, the world should be afraid of the consequences of the world’s (second) richest man meeting with the world’s most vociferous wealth-taxer.

During an appearance at the New York Times’ DealBook conference in New York on Wednesday, Bill Gates appeared to veer from his typical virtue-signaling supremo self, and criticized Elizabeth Warren over her proposed tax plan.

All that a ‘President Warren’ could change just by executive order

Via Marketwatch

In one chart: Warren could go it alone in 21 policy areas, including breaking up big tech, says Barclays

As some investors fret that Wall Street-bashing progressive Sen. Elizabeth Warren could get elected president next year, a Barclays analyst has put together a chart showing what she could accomplish in the White House without having to work with Congress.

The Massachusetts Democrat could use executive orders, presidential memorandums, proclamations and appointments to regulatory agencies in order achieve her policy goals, said Shawn Golhar, the bank’s head of public policy research, in a recent note.

Are the Democrats Doomed in 2020?

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

The latest ruckus behind the curtain is that the whispers are turning into screams. The big donors to the Democratic Party have almost unanimously put the Democratic Party on notice that they will sit this one out or even donate to Trump if the party nominates either Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders.
