This conflict is between the Ukraine and Russia.
Many Ukrainians remember the horror of Josef Stalin in the 1930s. It’s in their history, and it’s in their DNA, so to speak. We rightly took no action then, and we should do so now. It’s none of our business.
Jimmy Carter’s injection of “human rights” into our foreign policy formula was a disaster then, and it is a disaster today. It is one of the main reasons why I have strongly supported Ron Paul, who merely echoes the wisdom of George Washington. Non-intervention, not isolationism.
We cannot correct the mistakes of others in the past. Nor should we attempt this fool’s errand.

I’m guilty of having voted for a lot of republicans. Proud to say I’ve never voted for McCain (or Obama). Anyone -like McCain- who wanted to go to war with Russia over the birthplace of Stalin has no business being president.
On my way home from work this evening, I listened as usual to the neocon radio station in Houston that pretends to be conservative. The guest was shockingly Dr. Strangelove, aka Chuck Krauthammer. His take on the Ukrainian riots is that the evil Vlad Putin is trying to suppress the indigenous desire of the Ukrainian people to join with the liberal european democracies and enjoy all the blessings of liberty by attempting to create a miniature Soviet Union. While I have embellished this a bit, this is exactly what that evil little cripple meant, and is essentially what he said.

SSS, I think you are being unfair to Carter. Of course his human rights crusade was largely bullshit (it certainly never applied to the Iranians), but at least he never initiated any wars to impose his pax baptistianus.
What I really hated most of all about Carter, besides his smug, holier than thou attitude, was his mother. What a bitch!
Like every other uprising, they are going to get something they think they want, but which will probably be worse than what they have now. The sheeple are too stupid to develop a proper plan or to understand what a proper form of government is. They will end up with the strongest of the potential despots, and there will be another uprising in a few months.
