$21M Brooklyn field hospital never saw a patient amid coronavirus pandemic

A roughly $21 million Brooklyn field hospital authorized by the de Blasio administration at the height of the coronavirus pandemic opened and closed without ever seeing one patient, according to city officials.

The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook was one of several sites across the five boroughs converted into a medical facility as a way to relieve the city’s overburdened hospital system as the COVID-19 crisis mounted.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced plans on Mar. 31 — a day after the USNS Comfort hospital ship arrived in New York Harbor to aid in the coronavirus fight — for the $20.8 million Red Hook field hospital with an estimated capacity for 750 beds.

The field hospital was built by Texas-based construction company SLSCO.

“They are going to set it up rapidly and we’re then going to go to the next site, the next site, the next site to meet our goal,” de Blasio told reporters of the site during that press conference in which the mayor also outlined the details to turn Queens’ Billie Jean King National Tennis Center into a 350-bed temporary hospital.

The field hospital was closed before it ever opened.

The makeshift hospital at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal was expected to open in April, but was not ready until May 4 – and is now being disbanded after being left unused, The City first reported.

“As part of our hospital surge, we expanded capacity at a breakneck speed, ensuring our hospital infrastructure would be prepared to handle the very worst. We did so only with a single-minded focus: saving lives,” de Blasio spokeswoman Avery Cohen told The Post Friday.

“Over the past few months, social distancing, face coverings, and other precautionary measures have flattened the curve drastically, and we remain squarely on focused taking that progress even further,” Cohen added.

The funding for the Red Hook hospital is expected to be reimbursed by FEMA.

Historic Democrat, leftist, leadership. Buffoons in the Governors and Mayors chairs but somehow this is all Trumps fault. Cuomo needs to be prosecuted for criminally negligent homicide

Yes. Covering up all the errors made like ordering infected oldsters into nursing homes while literally thousands of empty hospital beds were unused. Criminal stupidity and of course, Orange Man bad.

How long before NYC is demanding that that the Feds (the taxpayers) bail them out? And of course they will.

Another complete fucking waste of public resources courtesy of the spectacularly incompetent.

(However, someone’s brother-in-law made out pretty sweet on the deal.)

I believe that the state of Georgia spent $37 million to “convert” the World Congress Center (Convention hall space in downtown Atlanta…next door to CNN by the way) into an overflow hospital. The total number of patients it has seen is around 30 from the last story I saw a week or so ago. $1 million a patient. Great money for the government-connected contractor who did the work I’m sure.

I’m sure there is a nearly identical story from every major city in the country.

It was probably a ruse to build another FEMA camp, Military Barracks, Testing/Vaccine Ctr. But mostly to house the homeless and bereft who are increasingly filling the sidewalks of the city. This is only the beginning.

It’s been so irritatingly frustrating observing the masses diving deeper and deeper into the abyss. Will these people ever get fed up with this crap?! I check in with some of my peeps here….to keep me from going there too.

if you look at the original study, it’s really fuckin stupid.
cases come from populous areas.
if it was “5g” WAY more people would be having symptoms, not just the totally frail and immunocompromised.

Who else never had a death? How about any big shit from any endeavor. If some celebrity died it would be endless front page news. Same with sports figures, politicians, business leaders, actors, bigwigs of any area or their spouses or kids.
Isn’t that odd? Not a one?
Things that make me go “Hmmmmm”!

Franklin Graham brought in a field hospital from his organization Samaritan’s Purse. The professional aggrieved faggotry people protested help from Christians who don’t go for the “Adam and Steve” thingy. There may have been others. Largely wasted resources however many there were.
Our local hospital in a county with one death and a few dozen total cases had to get in on it. Spent a fortune running all over town trying to build these stupid things in abandoned buildings etc.

DeBlasio is now demanding the nurses and Dr. who came in to help will have to pay NYC income taxes for any monies earned while helping them out. Let’s see how many people volunteer to help NYC the next time a plandemic hits them.

The Central Park set-up were a few large tents and some mighty big semi-trailers with supplies and gennies to keep it running. I circled the area few times and saw…..nothing. I spoke with a couple of chaplains associated with the set-up organization. They said there were some (30ish) sick folks of all ages in the tents. I didn’t see any activity. None. Not even any activity directly across the street which was Mount Sinai. The set up was struck and carted away after a few weeks. I think they should have left tents up. We’ll need them to house the homeless and drug addled.

NPR went even deeper ($600 million total wasted):

But I’m sure they only did their investigation because Trump is president.
