Beware: Universities, Big Biz Endorse Amnesty

Once again, the big guys, those with money, power and influence, are ganging up on the little guys, Americans struggling in the neverending pandemic shutdown to earn a sustenance-level income.

As is too frequently the case, immigration, and specifically President Biden’s U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, is the focal point of the ongoing lopsided battle of the elite versus the working classes. At the Feb. 19 New England Business Immigration Summit (NEBIS), Harvard’s president, Lawrence S. Bacow, along with biotech executives and other higher education leaders gathered virtually to urge Congress to pass the amnesty legislation that Biden promised as a candidate.

Never-Say-Die House Passes Another Ag Amnesty

Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2019 (HR 5038), a massive amnesty that the bill’s title tries to disguise. The final vote, mostly along party lines, was 260-165.

By giving the legislation a sympathetic but totally misleading name, its Open Borders signatories hope that the public will get behind it, and encourage the Senate to pass it. The House dares not identify HR 5038 as what it is: an amnesty that includes lifetime valid work permits, Green Cards and a path to citizenship for up to 1.5 million illegal aliens who have been employed – or claim they’ve been employed – in ag at least part-time during the last two years. Amnesty would also be granted to their family members.

Amnesty-Addicted Graham Up to His Old Tricks with Gang of Eight Pal Durbin

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is back to his commitment for more immigration and amnesty for whatever number of illegal immigrants are unlawfully present. The estimated illegal alien population ranges from 11 to 30 million. Graham has teamed up with one of the most hardcore amnesty proponents and his one-time ally, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), on prior S. 744 legislation, dubbed the Gang of Eight bill.

The media, as is its practice, refers to the Graham-Durbin alliance as evidence of bipartisanship. In fact, while the two senators represent different political parties, they’re two peas in a pod when amnesty is the end game.

Paul Ryan Pushing Towards Amnesty? The Latest in the Immigration Fight

Amnesty spawns illegal immigration, a talking point enforcement advocates repeatedly make. Because the math conclusively proves that amnesty leads to more illegal immigration, the pro-amnesty contingent rarely counters. Here are the statistics: In 1986, when President Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act, 2.7 million people were amnestied, including those covered as part of Special Agricultural Worker (SAW) provisions.

Congress’ Memorial Day Goal: Give Millions Amnesty?

In 2014, more than two years before he became Secretary of Defense, United States Marine Corps General James Mattis addressed an audience of war veterans for the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Mattis told the all-volunteer group, “You signed blank checks payable with your lives to the American people,” a reference to the day corps members signed their contracts obligating them to serve.

General Mattis praised the soldiers’ personal commitment, their determination to bring home their fellow soldiers, their value and ferocity, and their families’ sacrifices. During his speech, General Mattis referenced the “political rhetoric swirling around these little understood wars….”
