I had a bad dream that I was smoking again. Horrible. I don’t drink either so I get to spend more time here late at night when others are out getting drunk.

I already have enough guilt to deal with. Even when I tell myself, Elpidio, that was 40 years ago, nobody remembers. But I remember. Sometimes, but if I’m busy BSing with somebody here, then the guilt bunnies stay away.

It’s not serious stuff, it’s just mean things I said to anybody. That shit kills me. I’m reminded of that especially when gm or left a comment leave without a comment.

Ahem, Mags, this little safe space on TBP is a good idea, if only because if anybody saw you smoking while preggers on the regular TBP, they would skin you alive. The statue of limitations doesn’t apply.

Closing in on 400! Is still fun even with a bunch of non-smoking puritans and teetotalers.

Still can’t stop thinking about Left a Comment leavin’ in a huff and gm’s excellent goodbye”.

as well as El Whatever’s:

“It’s like cleaning house after your girlfriend leaves, You don’t care for the underwear, the dirty cotton balls, makeup and fake jewelry or thousands of pairs of shoes, what you miss the most is her little sideways smirk.”

Damn you El Butthead. You stick in my head like a bad jingle!! uggghhh…

Oh well…

On another note: Is anyone else having trouble loading this thread? I have been having trouble of late and it won’t let me “due to a long running” script. Some of the other vids and photos aren’t loading as well (mainly the ones way above)?

Since posting on Gator’s 2nd Libertarian/abused amendment sites I have been having issues. I have had the “blue screen of death” twice.

Today, I cleared my cache on this system and was able to access Andy for this comment. But – again – some of the videos & photos aren’t loading.

It could be a graphics driver issue, I’m an not sure. I am not tech-head, per se and only know enought to make me dangerous. Or maybe it IS the NSA? OK. call me paranoid. Whatever.

In any case, I am having my IT guy get to it on either Tomorrow or Tues. In the meantime, I will try to stay on to 400 for sure.

Gotta’ go for now…

I always click on stop script. I shut off the power at the button instead of waiting for it to shut off and I don’t allow it to reload the last pages when I power up. So far so good. Also, I haven’t upgraded to Win10, I hope I don’t get a personal visit from the man.

Your bike or girl comment was funny. I think everybody plays the what if game once in a bad while.

Professor Pangloss said, If you weren’t here, you’d be somewhere else. You’d be with some other chick and looking over the fence at this one, OK?

I was not preggers in that photo, so the smoking police can leave me alone.

However, I did NOT completely stop smoking when pregnant until my 9th month, though I cut down significantly. It made me nauseous to smoke. I quit completely after the 8th month, but as soon as my friend Nancy showed up at the hospital to see my baby, we went outside and i started again. Haha…

Which is why I ran from the company Xmas party at a bar. I told whoever, I’m just here to pick up my gift. I got it and made for the bathroom, then out the back door.

My daughter asked, how was the party? I said, I have intelligent people to read right here, I don’t find drunks to be very funny or interesting.

Been thinking again today (LOOK OUT!) – but it seems like several here at TBP have affectionate names for their spouses, ya know?

Admin has his Avalon.
Stucky has his Mrs. Freud.
Maggie has her Beloved Nick.
EL Cookie has his Sexy Mulatta

So now I want one for my darlin’ too.

She’s a few years younger than me – in her late 40’s but looks more like 35. Fantastic wife and mom. More than I ever deserved.

I was thinking… like “the Lovely Lioness”? No. Too many syllables, I think.

Not to sound like a beach boy – but she IS a Midwest farmer’s daughter – and – she really DOES make me feel alright.

She wears her hair in a ponytail when she does her cross fit training and she’s as wholesome as a glass of milk.

Therefore… my lovely bride MIGHT henceforth be affectionately referred to by me as “Ellie Mae”.

Definitely wiser than a “Clampett” and FAR more sophisticated than a beverly hillbilly – and much, much cuter – But I kind of like it.

Still deciding tho…

Jfish, Admin will tell you not so nicely to go away if you start ruining the place. The beauty of the place is that it can’t be ruined unless you are a self-righteous pretentious asshole and you can hide your IP address.

I took my son out for a haircut and to get a stuffed bunny for his boss’s daughter (In Baltimore). He’s heading back that way for two weeks of work and I suggested that since his boss is letting him live in the basement, a nice little gift for her daughter would be a nice touch. He insisted on getting a realistic looking bunny because she wanted one of my rabbits and that was impractical. So, she now is getting a stuffed rabbit that looks almost real.

My son cracks me up. He really is a hoot and has an incredible sense of humor/dry wit.

Are you trying to adopt Maggie as your Ma? Look, if Admin ever tells you that you have to go, make sure to go out with guns blazing. Don’t try to slink off like fucking Left a Shit.

Man, I can tell you how many have left with a whimper and a lot more that left with their guts ripped out. The latter left with their pride intact. Your here, enjoy it, fuckwad.

All right, I had one of those all night dreams that was about something insane. I dreamed I was watching a presidential debate live. (I have NOT even tuned in to one second of any of the political theater this year, except snippets shared here or clips on the news that are short enough that I don’t turn it off.) My dream was formatted like a beauty contest and Donald Trump in an evening gown is not something I want to believe my subconscious threw into my deep sleep. But even worse was the swimsuit competition and while Carly Fiorina hasn’t a bad figure, I’m not going to get over Jeb Bush and Rand Paul in their one-piece ladies suits very soon. The Donald opted for men’s baggy trunks instead and in the bizarre dream state I was in, he really pulled it off. There was no discussion or questions and at the end of the contest, I was asked to give my opinion on whom was best suited to be president. For some reason, I answered seriously, as if seeing 9 men and women prance and preen across the stage in various outerwear were an important way to judge how they would guide our sinking ship at this most important point in our history. I told whomever was interviewing me that I thought Donald Trump had blown it by wearing a lavender gown with all the lace and ruffles, but that Carly Fiorina had really shown the country what she could do for us as a leader. I predicted that Jeb Bush was gone from the scene, being unable to hide his weak muscles and that Rand Paul might be a good VP for Carly.

Then, my dream morphed into tending rabbits and chickens and I woke up with the feeling that the beauty contest dream was REAL. Please tell me there wasn’t a late night “debate” where the “contestants” were wearing ball gowns.

Ha, ha! You people actually have something in common with my mermaid… you all are so…

so… so… (wait for it… wait for it…)

very FINNY!! In fact…, I’ve never seen anything on a SCALE like it!

Also – to EL Cacophonous – just cause we had white furniture for 7 years and didn’t want to get kid snot on it – doesn’t mean we didn’t have a lot of practice, ya know?

But – for our next kid we are going to name him after you. It will be a test tube baby and he will be named “arty”. Yep …:

Arty-fish-EL. Ha, ha! I swear sometimes I OUTDO myself.

On another note – Ellie Mae the Mermaid took off work today. So I did too. Going to a movie this afternoon cause its $5 Tuesday! Yeah!

I was wanting to see Star Wars – but after reading this thread this morning… maybe… Arial & Nemo should go to “Heart of the Sea” instead? Then I could also brush up on my Moby Dick? (no comment please!!!)

In any case – you will all have to wait and SEA what we decide.

So – catch me later!! Ha, ha, (get it? like “catch” a fish?)

Did you ever notice that everyone on Andy Griffith was unmarried? The only one who was married was Otis and he was a drunk!

We saw Star Wars today to see what all fuss is about. Saw the original when I was 12.

For me – the “magic” is lost. It’s okay if you check your brain at the door. To “Disneyfied” now, I think…

EL Caballo
EL Caballo
December 22, 2015 8:15 pm

It was Disneyfied when it came out. Folks laughed at the ‘walking gas pumps’. The movie ‘Alien’ brought back the serious approach to space drama with its version of Ten Little Indians.

Geo Lucas is a good movie maker with no story to tell. He shot his wad on THX 1137 and even Flo makes better use of his set with her Progressive Insurance commercials.

I’m still on topic, Jfish. Remember that Opie (this article) and Han Solo (your date night selection) starred in Lucas’ American Graffiti.

I was young at the 1st Star Wars – & it truly was magical for me then. I loved Alien, for sure. Am a sci Fi fan.

Saw American Graffiti years later on HBO (or Showtime? Can’t remember – but I loved that flick too….

From Moby Dick to Phillip K. Dick all in one day. TBP is wild for sure. Scares me that I luv the “Dicks” so much (no comment please).

Also enjoy westerns. Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian” book blew me away. Read that 2 years ago. Also loved Larry McMurtry’s ‘Lonesome Dove” (both book & TV series).

Guess I’m a little bit modern and a little bit old-fashioned.

Oh well, that’s me…

Too funny, EC… I was thinking that there may be several predators out there watching and waiting to sweep in for the prize. Perhaps I’ll get some baking done and check back in later.

Did you watch the Barney clip I posted? Is one of my all time favorites, with Andy feeding him every word. Barney is the ultimate pompous dumbass. Of course, he is only a charachiture and is supposed to be an exaggeration, but I’ve known (and worked for) far too many just like him.

Jfish did bring up a good point about most characters in Mayberry being unmarried. I suppose that might have some deeper meaning if we wanted to tear it apart with critical analysis.

I was looking up the lines of Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” to make sure I quoted correctly and I happened upon this pompous asswipe who proclaimed to know exactly what Frost really meant by “and that has made all the difference.” And, while he was at it, he explained that we American idiots got it all wrong. Then I looked at the information by his biline and see that he is a New York Times poetry analyst and columnist and realized I was reading something written by an asswipe.

Okay, so this original post was about wholesome Andy Griffith explaining to Opie why eavesdropping on his prisoners, even if they were guilty was WRONG.

Let’s see if we can’t end it with POS Leo Dicaprio being coy about his fabulous scene and how marvelous it was to be shown having sexual relations with a bear.

A far cry from Titanic’s King of the World, but some days you get the bear and some days the bear gets you.

Well, I think Jfish was chatting on TBP while he was AT the movie with Ariel.

Reminds me of a story about my Dad when he was a newly returned POW and all the young ladies in the farm country were wild to date him. One that he was pretty “steady” with said they went to a movie on a double date and about ten minutes into the movie, he excused himself and left. She thought he was going to the men’s room, but when he didn’t come back, she went out to find him and was told that the guy she was looking for had left the theater and he’d come back by a time or two to see if the movie was close to ending.

He was outside in his Willis Jeep to pick her and the other couple up when the movie ended, but she said she was so angry she told him to take her home and not to call her again.

My father HAD no interest in movies. He could not seem to follow a story line. I don’t know if that was because of being a POW or what, but thought of Jfish out in the lobby on his phone, updating TBP.

I sometimes wish I could collect every one of the movies made in the 1930s/1940s. It was the Golden Era of film writing. Since the special effects were so limited and there was no spectacular scenery available to most film makers, the STORY had to carry the movie. And the acting had to be genuine and carry the emotion.

I go to thrift shops when I pass by and go straight to the DVD and VHS tapes on shelves. I find some gems for sure, but nothing like Waterloo Bridge. I love the Gary Cooper films A Farewell to Arms (in my collection) and Meet John Doe (NOT in my collection YET). And it is only because the stories are so well told.

I love a good story with a proper ending. It doesn’t have to be happy… it just needs to be proper.
