Embracing Realism with an Attitude of Pessimism and a Foreboding Sense of Fatalism

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

We perceive our civic challenge as some vast, insoluble Rubik’s Cube. Behind each problem lies another problem that must be solved first, and behind that lies yet another, and another, ad infinitum. To fix crime we have to fix the family, but before we do that we have to fix welfare, and that means fixing our budget, and that means fixing our civic spirit, but we can’t do that without fixing moral standards, and that means fixing schools and churches, and that means fixing the inner cities, and that’s impossible unless we fix crime. There’s no fulcrum on which to rest a policy lever. People of all ages sense that something huge will have to sweep across America before the gloom can be lifted – but that’s an awareness we suppress. As a nation, we’re in deep denial.

– Straus and Howe (1997):  “The Fourth Turning”, FIRST EDITION page 2

The books Generations (1992) and The Fourth Turning (1997) by historians William Strauss and Neil Howe identified and categorized recorded cycles of history across multiple cultures and eras.  Both books analyzed the timelines of historical events and correlated them to specific life cycles identified as generational “types”.   Strauss and Howe addressed the concept of time in the context of both circular and linear perspectives.  In so doing, they described the “saeculum” as a “long human life” measuring approximately 80 to 90 years and comprised of four turnings, each lasting around 20 to 22 years.

Just as there are four seasons consisting of spring, summer, fall and winter, there are also four phases of a human life experienced in childhood, young adulthood, middle age and elderhood.

Each generation experiences the historical turnings according to their life stage; and the Seasons (i.e. order of societal “turnings”) are identified by each generation as they reach middle-age.  Amazingly, history shows a consistent pattern in how the generations similarly cause and affect historical events.

In America, since the end of the late sixteenth-century, there have been four full “cycles”, or saeculums, as follows:

1.) Colonial Cycle

2.) Revolutionary Cycle

3.) Civil War Cycle

4.) World War Cycle

In every Fourth Turning “winter”, or crisis period, within all of the above cycles, American society experienced great upheavals and war.

Accordingly, in 2024, as one who Strauss and Howe identified as a (Generation X) “Nomad”, I find myself middle-aged and in the center of a literal (seasonal) winter, at the beginning of a Fourth Turning (generational) winter, and at the advent of World War III occurring approximately 80 years after World War II.

Lucky me.

History repeating and the daily repetitiveness of life calls to mind the Sisyphean task of continually rolling the same giant allegorical boulder up the same steep proverbial hill; over and over and over again.

But Sisyphus had it much easier in Hades.  At least it was warm there. Had he lived in the northern climes as I do, Sisyphus would have had to remove the snow from the hill before he attempted to reach the summit with the rock.  Then, once the snow was removed all the way to the top, he would have turned around only to see that high winds had drifted in the very path he had just shoveled; except the drifted snow would then be densely packed and made harder than concrete via double-digit wind-chills below zero degrees.  Even so, the snowpack would need to be moved repeatedly before the rock received even one little push; then Sisyphus would do it again tomorrow and the next day too.

What’s the point?  It is this:  The cold winds of both seasonal and generational winters add dangerous risks and difficulty to daily Sisyphean tasks.

Inspired by the Fall of France during World War II, French author and journalist Albert Camus (1913-1960) considered Sisyphus as an absurd hero of sorts. But the American philosopher Richard Taylor (1919-2003), in his 1987 metaphysical review entitled “Time and Life’s Meaning”, argued Sisyphus symbolized the meaningless repetition of life.

Previously, in 1962, Richard Taylor wrote a paper called “Fatalism and the Semantics of Physical Modality” that inspired the critically acclaimed American novelist David Foster Wallace (1962-2008) to rebut Taylor’s conclusions regarding fatalism.

fatalism

noun

: a doctrine that events are fixed in advance so that human beings are powerless to change them

also : a belief in or attitude determined by this doctrine

/ fatalism that regards social problems as simply inevitable

 – SOURCE

Applying the principle of bivalence (i.e. statements identified as either true or false), Taylor identified six presuppositions that appeared to prove individual powerlessness in the face of inevitable outcomes; and David Foster Wallace’s rebuttal came in the form of his 1985 honors thesis at Amherst College,  entitled:  “Fate, Time, and Language: An Essay on Free Will”.

I wrote an article in 2018 on David Foster Wallace entitled “Pessimism, Fatalism, Realism, Optimism, Hope”, and actually referenced Wallace’s (semantics vs. metaphysics) refutation of Richard Taylor’s 1962 paper.

Additionally, exactly five years ago this month, in a New Year’s article, I discussed Wallace again, in regards to the mind being an “excellent servant” and a “terrible master” and then concluded that article with these words:

To be sure, the next year and beyond will have a lot of aggravations. Things we can’t control.  If only we could focus, instead, on what we can do in any given moment while letting go of any expected outcomes. Certainly, to do otherwise is vanity.  Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

As such, I believe my most formidable problems consist NOT within the metaphorical rock or hill, or life’s hardships and/or any perceived unfairness… but, rather, my negative thoughts regarding these.

Therefore, as I navigate the daily grind with an impending sense of doom…. is my mind serving me or intimidating me?

In the pursuit of moving seemingly endless volumes of snow in below-zero temperatures, I recently recalled the 1993 “Alive” movie about the 1972 Uruguayan plane crash in the Andes Mountains:  The Uruguayan rugby team was en route to Chile for a match and they were in fine spirits…. until they realized they were about to collide into a mountain range. For the survivors, great hardships ensued during and after the impact.

I imagined myself in an airplane about to crash:  Assume the engines are gone and we are gliding at a high altitude with the other passengers.  We’re going down and none of us can do one thing to change what is about to happen…  except to panic, or pray, and, perhaps, fatalistically brace for impact with an attitude of pessimism and a tiny bit of hope.

In that scenario, these presuppositional statements would form in my mind prior to impact:  I can’t stop what is about to happenI will live or dieIf I live, it’s going to hurt in ways I can’t fully understand now.

I wondered by such thinking if I would be engaging in pessimism or realism? Is there a difference?

Paradoxically, in later metaphysical manifestations of coincidental synchronicity, or Providential Serendipity, I came across an article about a critically acclaimed 2023 film called “Society of the Snow”; and this was surprisingly followed by one of my offspring’s positive comments about the movie.

It appeared the 2023 film was a remake of the 1993 version, and my first thought was… “Why would anyone want to remake the 1993 version?”   It was, after all, very well-made and brutal to watch.

Ergo, I reconsidered the 1993 film version of the actual events from 1972:  The Uruguayan rugby players were raucous and rowdy on the plane.  Upon the first signs of trouble, there was a lack of understanding and acceptance of what was happening.  Gradually, reality set in before final impact.  The carnage was gruesome, one of the worst film representations of a plane crash I had ever seen.  Some passengers died on impact. Others were injured.  The remaining survivors held out hope of being saved before soon realizing their hope of being rescued was a self-deceiving dream.  They cannibalized the dead for sustenance.  Even after surviving the plane crash, and resorting to cannibalism to survive, many of the injured continued to die… as cascading avalanches buried and killed some of the remaining (healthier) survivors, too.

Imagine surviving a plane crash and eating your dead friends only to later be killed by falling snow. Subsequently, those who lived had fewer and fewer choices as the extreme cold and threat of additional avalanches made survival terrifyingly difficult.

Yet, during their ordeal, the crash survivors could have considered how part of the plane remained intact because it landed in an open area on the mountain; and they may have appreciated the fortuity of the snow cushioning, and progressively braking, their impact momentum; and how the intact segment of the plane granted them some shelter from the extreme cold.

These little… dare I say… gratitudes may have facilitated the survivors’ will to live as their story now continues to inspire five decades after the plane crash that should have killed them.

Coincidental synchronicity? Or Providential Serendipity?

Either way, to a far lesser degree than the Uruguayan rugby players, the winter cold, snow, and dangerous winds, have made my daily grind to survive more difficult as well.  But why complain?  What good would it do?  What harm might it bring?

To be sure, the Serenity Prayer contains elements of Stoicism:

Strauss & Howe identified progressing components of the “Crisis / Winter” phase in “The Fourth Turning”:   The “Winter” of our generation is claimed (by Howe) to have been triggered by the 2008 subprime crash. This was the catalyst. According to the theory, and observations from history, the catalyst phase is then followed by a regeneration which fuels a climax that leads to a resolution.

The climax of the American Revolution, for example (i.e. surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown in 1781) was ensued by several more years of “crisis” (constitutional convention, 1st presidential election, Whiskey Rebellion. new treaty with England, etc)

Perhaps Trump’s 2016 election marked a regeneration that has fueled this crisis phase into Covid-19 (and a stolen 2020 election) that could climax in 2024? Even so, the crisis would extend well beyond this year – in the same way the Uruguayan rugby team’s survival tale continued long after their initial impact.

Or considering 2024 as an “election” year, the regeneration phase might build in the U.S. until a later, and more cataclysmic, climax and resolution occurs.  But, in either scenario, the outcome of the climax will determine the resolution. One way, or another.

Regardless, in spite of any election-year dreams of political rescue…. and given America’s “Rubik’s Cube” of problems behind problems behind problems ad infinitum…  as Strauss and Howe phrased it (posted at the top of this article)…  I remain pessimistic while possessing a certain sense of fatalism.  This is the result of understanding reality and the cold inevitability of math; especially as it becomes increasingly personal when trapped behind a rock in the hard place.

The events of this Fourth Turning’s winter season are baked into the proverbial cake, so to speak.

Food. Health. Climate. Outer Space Aliens. War. Cyber-attacks, burgeoning terrorism, Digital I.D. and CBDCs.

False flags, propaganda, and censorship.

The globalists claim their regulations and enforcement actions are for the good of humanity, but, in reality, these are about control. And why the need for control? Because the need to control is rooted in fear. The Beast must be serviced for it to survive. It’s all about the survival of the State Beast, pure and simple.

Agents of the Beast tell themselves they are just doing their job, it’s for the general good. This allows them to draw their paycheck so they can survive, and they lie to themselves via plausible deniability, even as most of them surely understand the truth behind their rationalizations and virtue signaling.

These agents are de facto whores in the service of wizards who have harnessed the power of the Beast via the magic of Scientism. And the agents will allow themselves to be rented until the wizards are done with them.

Perhaps, one day, the agents will realize how they were screwed and how they prostituted themselves so the wizards could screw everyone else too.

The love of money and all that.

So I don’t expect any remorse from those who have sold their souls. Neither will I count on being politically rescued from the avalanche now descending on us all.

Last month, virus expert Geert Vanden Bossche repeated his prediction of mass deaths in highly covid-vaccinated countries.  He speculates the “died suddenly” deaths that are linear now are about to go exponential by means of proliferating disease and weakened immune response in those who have received the mRNA vaccines. He says it’s “reality” and nothing can stop it now.

If that becomes true, it might require a giant diversion – which might explain the proliferating UFO headlines, no?

In July of last year, a congressional hearing took place whereby whistleblowers testified to U.S. lawmakers regarding evidence of “non-human intelligence” on planet Earth.  Take note of how Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) have become Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) with “implications on national security”.

Consequently, to begin the New Year, we’ve heard about classified briefings in Congress and 10-foot aliens walking around a Miami mall.

Just as some are reciting ancient Biblical scriptures over the most recent violence in the Middle East, there are those claiming the UFO phenomenon in the “last days” was also predicted in the Bible; the “fearful sights and great signs” from heaven of Luke 21:11, the Days of Noah and the return of the Nephilim (Matthew 24 & Genesis 6), the Old Testament prophet Daniel’s “vision” concerning “the appointed time of the end”, and the “falling away” / “strong delusion” of 2 Thessalonians 2.

Regardless of what the readers believe, if 100+ mile-long alien motherships appear in the skies, or other-worldly vessels are seen entering and exiting volcanoes and/or the oceans around the earth, or shimmering UAP shoppers begin appearing at retail outlets regularly….  I suspect the worldviews of most people, including professed Christians, will be rewired by what they see – and perhaps, even the most alert, awake, and skeptical of internet blog readers will believe as well, if it were possible.

If UAP events like these were to happen while being broadcast around the world, it would make Covid’s magic spell look like child’s play, would it not?

In August of 2017, I wrote an article entitled “Crossing the Line: Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West” and discussed how the shadows of two solar eclipses (on August 21, 2017 and April 8, 2024, respectively) would form a giant X as if “stamped on the nation” like “the crosshairs of a divine gun”.  I concluded that post with these words:

Crossing the blood meridian is about going too far.  It’s about losing one’s way and traversing the lines that were always there, waiting to be crossed. Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre  and the Reign of Terror, or the Purge of Stalin, or Hitler’s Kristallnacht; the night of broken glass.  The globalist’s must divide America.  They must slice her in two and then break her into bits. They may succeed.  Perhaps it was written in the stars from the beginning; and even now foreshadowed in the days ahead. The seven years between 2017 and 2024 will mark another path of totality in the West.  Just watch.

Yes. These last seven years have been unprecedented in American history. And 2024 will be insanely unpredictable as well. Then, over the next decade, the insanity will grow even worse.

You might call me a pessimist, or say I’ve succumbed to nihilism and fatalism, but you would be wrong.

I am a realist first and foremost, and the fatalistic pessimism is merely the icing on the (previously mentioned, proverbial) cake.

The Fourth Turning winter is here. It’s about to get colder.

That said, I was driving north on a near vacant road last week and the 2002 song “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue” by the country singer Toby Keith was playing on the radio. It is a jingoistic tune penned in response to the 911® attacks.  I enjoyed the song much more back when I was a dutiful neocon in favor of the Orwellian “Department of Homeland Security”, while gratefully taking my shoes off in airports, and still supporting the defense of liberty around the globe via bullets and bombs…

“Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list

And the Statue of Liberty started shakin’ her fist….”

And right then, I saw a large bird flying low toward the road directly in front of me, from east to west, then ascending upward to a near perfect 45-degree angle over my windshield.  I thought it was a large hawk at first, but as I approached to within 30 yards of the bird, I noticed the lighter-colored tail feathers and, as it turned, the white head. I realized it was a bald eagle, perhaps a male because they are smaller than female eagles.

At that exact moment, I heard through the radio….

“And the eagle will fly

And there’s gonna be hell

When you hear Mother Freedom

Start ringin’ her bell

And it’ll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you

Oh, brought to you Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue”

Some readers may doubt this happened but I pledge on my honor it occurred exactly as described.

Coincidental synchronicity? Or Providential Serendipity?

What were the odds?  And what did it mean?

I don’t have many answers. Mostly choices.

You think too much, Doug. But I get it, you need to get your thoughts organized and under some kind of control.

Like the survivors of the plane crash, some of us will make it through the next several years and some won’t. I might be one of those who don’t. Or, maybe I will. I have to be ok with whatever happens. We don’t know when our date with eternity is, regardless of the times we find ourselves in.
The Serenity Prayer is a good place to park.

Right now I just want to get through January and February. I will leave you with this. It’s been going around, maybe you have seen it.

Thirty days has September,
April, June and November.
Unless a leap year is its fate,
February has twenty-eight.
All the rest have three days more,
excepting January,
which has six thousand,
one hundred and eighty-four.

As to your depression — yesterday was Blue Monday.

Blue Monday is the name given to a day in January (typically the third Monday of the month) said by a UK travel company, Sky Travel, to be the most depressing day of the year.

Always a thought provoking essay from you, Douglas.
Thank you.
Tragically, a terrible storm is coming.
Evil versus not evil.
We are all approaching a great civil war. Not among states, but among hearts.
One heart embraces evil. The other heart is unaware of the other heart’s embracing of evil. Ammo up, protect your loved ones and friends, and have

Thought-provoking read as usual. Well done. I have significant cognitive dissonance on this 4th Turning. Intellectually I know the SHTF with massive suffering pain and death is coming. And many won’t survive and even the idea of limited government is on the line…..but then I am planning vacations and have plans for building companies, etc. We are in the sitzkrieg time before the unfortunates truly start. Maybe TX will start shooting the invaders and then the FEDs….and other states join the rebellion against an illegitimate Federal Tyranny. Who knows what Fort Sumter/Pearl Harbor will be but it’s coming. I live remotely, I am in good shape despite some health problems and I have worked on community ties….all you can do. Buckle up buttercup because Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is here.

An interesting tidbit.

10 If you just put the path of the Great American Eclipse of 2024 and the path of the Great American Eclipse of 2017 on a map, they combine to form a giant paleo-Hebrew “Tav” over America…

#11 The heart of the paleo-Hebrew “Tav” forms a giant “X” that falls directly over the New Madrid fault zone.

#12 One of my readers pointed out to me that we have seen a giant “X” like this before. The path of a solar eclipse that occurred on June 16th, 1806 combined with the path of a solar eclipse that occurred on September 17th, 1811 to also form a giant “X” over the New Madrid fault zone.

#13 Three months after the solar eclipse that happened on September 17th, 1811, a series of absolutely enormous earthquakes began to happen on the New Madrid fault…

The New Madrid earthquakes were the biggest earthquakes in American history. They occurred in the central Mississippi Valley, but were felt as far away as New York City, Boston, Montreal, and Washington D.C. President James Madison and his wife Dolly felt them in the White House. Church bells rang in Boston. From December 16, 1811 through March of 1812 there were over 2,000 earthquakes in the central Midwest, and between 6,000-10,000 earthquakes in the Bootheel of Missouri where New Madrid is located near the junction of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.

In the known history of the world, no other earthquakes have lasted so long or produced so much evidence of damage as the New Madrid earthquakes. Three of the earthquakes are on the list of America’s top earthquakes: the first one on December 16, 1811, a magnitude of 8.1 on the Richter scale; the second on January 23, 1812, at 7.8; and the third on February 7, 1812, at as much as 8.8 magnitude.

#14 The next total solar eclipse visible from the United States will not happen until 2044, and the path of that total solar eclipse will only touch three states.

I believe that the Great American Eclipse of 2024 is a really big deal.

As a land owner (except for the albatross of property tax) I’m extremely wary of folks on the property. Personal injury lawsuits are something to be aware of.

The wariness extends beyond my property boundaries anymore. Someone shooting on a nearby acreage managed to place a 7mm bullet in the radiator of my old truck. Bullet found, sheriff notified, sheriff brings in game warden, landowner first tells game warden “no way” , and it all worked out the landowner paying for the damages. I could have sued. The landowner is a LLC business. Perhaps I should have. It’s not my nature. Had my wife or myself been shot I may have reconsidered.

We were on a ridge just above a large ravine-at totality the temp air temp dropped about 14 deg F and there was a stout breeze moving up the ravine. Kind of uncomfortable. The wildlife we could observe were kind of dazed with the quickness of the nightfall. Pretty sure the camp this week is beyond uncomfortable.

IT’S THE SUN.

Anyone, having witnessed the precipitous temperature drop accompanying the eclipse must surely have also witnessed the Big Lie of global warming; namely that it is the SUN that is the sole driver of weather and temperatures.

I have this suspicion that this seven-year period from the first eclipse on August 21, 2017, to the eclipse coming in April 8, 2024, parallels the seven years of plenty that proceeds the seven years of famine that is talking about in the Bible.

Is it possible we could be headed into 7 years of famine?

6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 7 For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it, either. 8 If we have food and [g]covering, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all [h]sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many [i]griefs.

Doug, you don’t think too much. Well analyzed and framed accordingly. The notion of the NPC crowd dutifully doing their thing for a paycheck while in denial about the consequences, and then likely to show no remorse, that is a conceptual tool that is useful, very much so, as a tool to navigate the terrain we find ourselves in. Really good work. Thanks.

The biggest issue with the Strauss and Howe view is that they seem to believe in the concept of the greatWe.

Our nation, our schools, we have to fix this, we have to fix that- for some reason they can see over the span of a century with such clarity, but don’t even recognize that America is no more and that it long ago broke apart into a multitude of ethnic tribes living under an occupational government.

Whatever.

Anyone with the sense God gave a termite understands what he or she needs is to take care of their own families and communities and do whatever it takes to help those people make it through this period so they can rebuild something of value afterwards. Clinging to what’s left of the America of our fathers is like a bum wrapping himself in rags.

In 2008, during that time of the near full crash of our economic system, I had a strong sense while sitting in my cubicle office that right now, in that space and time, America was as good as it was going to get and that from her on out, there was going to be a decline.

I had not clue at that time just how far we would be falling. I had no idea that every single government institution, including medicine, would be corrupt to the core. I had no idea that psychotic behavior would be celebrated and that the basic things of life, like biology (the sexes) and real science, would be turned on their heads. Then I remembered those verses I read in the New Testament relating to the end times and how good would be deemed bad; and bad would be deemed good.

In 2008, I had not idea that a so-called vaccine would be pushed upon not only the American peoples but, a world at large. A jab that would turn out to be a lab created bioweapon to supplant the lab created “virus” that could only have been created to cull the herd — to decrease the surplus population. A bioweapon that almost 4 years later would still have a good percentage of people clamoring for the next “booster shot” all the while seeing sudden deaths and huge increase in all kinds of cancers, neurological diseases, along with a plethora of other injuries.

As I push closer and closer to 7 decades of life, and often ponder if I wish I was younger (without the sore joints) to deal with what is coming or, glad that I’m this age as I’ve lived a long life already. If there are indeed many years of hardship ahead of us, what shape should I be in to deal with it?

This is all, unfortunately, the world we now live in. There is a difference between pessimism and realism. Realism looks at the facts around us and then draws a conclusion on what is truly happening and, what is most likely coming.

https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Matthew-6-24/

21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

I had similar feelings. But they coalesced not from the supposed collapse but in the run-up.

The run-up was the great unveiling of clownworld. Since we are but an “Economy”, what better forum to illustrate the inverted nature of this conjured reality and its hypnotic ability to ensnare us all in its promises?

You too, peon, can “build real wealth” in your portfolio. Follow me!

The collapse, really what would become a masterful theater of collapse, was at once a great harbinger of what was to come and a validation of the preeminence of the System as our defining feature.

No, I saw it unfold, the same way it came into being.

The system will not suffer, the collapse will not be some reckoning of bringing lies to light, derivatives to their natural state, liars and thieves to “justice”, the greedy to their just deserts, the conmen to the angry crowd full of gallows carpenters, or even some accidental encounter in the emergency room when value makes eye-contact with price.

The usury will not be indicted. It will be embraced.

The cure for debt was more debt. The cure for greed was more greed. The cure for coveting thy neighbor was social media. Jezebel was not banished but instead became the idol of every daughter with a phone.

The salad days of debt-is-wealth aroused a cult-like euphoria that I found to be terribly disturbing. Until “covid” topped that. Too many parallels to list, but if you know you know.

Having been an insider of sorts, a middling but uniquely positioned cog in globocapital, I was in the belly when the beast swallowed the world.

My idealism long since burned like so many rendered whales to keep my soul intac. But the fever of those years before the great “meltdown” were a constant torment of cogdis and the kind of 3AM intrusions of reality that are now a regular feature.

Strange days were spent wandering among those taken by the fever. Constantly pinging each other for the latest affirmation or mantra, constantly working to distil the world into their elixir of self-regard and hubris.

All while the captains of the coming chaos knew full well that the music was growing distant. That the goodwill that some working class chump put into his notion of retirement was going to need to be burned in an unfortunate brush fire that would just happen to save the forest. For now.

That it held a big party where it ceremoniously shit out what would become the current year in a Vesuvius of molten lies and half-digested financial produkt furiously gathered up by hand-rubbing rats and stuffed into the walls and beneath the sofa was not the disturbing part. That I’d come to expect.

The disturbing part was that there was not a collapse. That this clown show was just getting started.

You see they finally built it. That zero-point energy device that could power the world, create infinite wealth with zero inputs, spin out entire dimensions unconstrained by the pedestrian laws of prole physics to be mined and harvested on the backs of new generations of True Believers.

Like that terrible move Oppenheimer, their zero-point machine did not ignite the atmosphere and destroy the world. It validated the power of man to harness that of God, thereby believing himself to be God.

And that destroyed the world. Even though we can still hear the distant music.

When my eyes were opened, when I took the red pill, over 15 years ago, I never could have envisioned things going as they have been, without a collapse. In 2009, we bought a new car to replace the 11 year old one we had, because we believed hyperinflation was right around the corner.

I finally came to understand that since almost every government in the world is using a Keynesian debt-based system, printing money ad nauseum, and since they all agree to accept monopoly money, the charade will continue to go on. The casino is still open. That is, until the PTB decide to call in the markers; aka The Great Reset.

You a writer, DV. And you’re right. Conquest is a mundane occurrence if you zoom out the time scale. This one is (((different))). They have been working on their eschatological exit plan for some time.

There is that one catch. Every dollar is backed by debt, which means that every printed dollar requires moar debt. We saw that when the housing market collapsed and the Fed didn’t conjure more money into existence to buy toxic assets. We saw that with the ‘COVID’ spending during the economic lockdown. Yes, somehow the U.S. establishment just makes all the money they want when they want and conservatives just know for sure that every dollar is backed by some exogenous debt. Some of them read Creature by Griffin and think the mandrake mechanism is real. Of course, TPTB would never except such a limitation, but try and tell a conservative about the Real Bills Doctrine. Now that we have inelastic currency (fiat money without an artificial policy of restraint), we have that money machine. Faith makes currency current, and, boy, is it. Retards will accept any alpha-dictated norms. Me, I worship the Almighty made known to me via the Jews by God’s grace.

“A history of scary, conflicting, and hard-to-trust guidance on aspartame
It can be hard for attentive consumers to know who to trust to weigh in on aspartame’s safety. That’s because since its earliest days, the product’s manufacturers — and the industry that now reaps enormous profits from its sale — have sought to influence its approval for consumer use.

When American pharmaceutical company G.D. Searle first tried to get aspartame approved by the FDA in 1973, it was denied: Independent scientists alleged the product could cause a range of neurologic disorders, and some alleged the company hadn’t been entirely above-board in its safety testing.

In January 1981, Ronald Reagan became the US president. His transition team included then-CEO of G.D. Searle, one Donald Rumsfeld. Although an independent FDA board warned that May that the drug might induce brain tumors, the agency’s newly installed director overruled them, and the FDA approved the product for consumer use that July.”

If you are able begin a schedule of light weight lifting and stretching. Perhaps you already do. While I cannot speak for others, it seems the time spent and effort in strengthening the muscles surrounding those joints helps dealing with the realism I’m getting no younger. I’ve stuck with the workouts about four months and often thought why did I not do this 30 years ago?

I’ve been through a time of bursitis that has not surfaced for some years. Several times I would wake up and literally not able to lift my right shoulder for the entire day and often into the next. I laugh when working with various weight machines hearing the joints “popping” in that right shoulder. I go through a regiment of 18 weight machines along with one barbell exercise, the stretching plus stationary bike. Three days per week and takes up to near two hours each workout to stay the coarse. I definitely feel the strength in my legs that will help in toting the bug out bag. Joking, I’m going nowhere as my bug out took place in 2016.

Not meaning this to be about me, me, me. Perhaps some older folks with the nagging pains of “growing up” will get motivated and benefit. Not fool proof and of course anyone can exit the mortal self any minute.

I’m a candidate for a knee replacement but doing what I can to not do that. Should I damage the knee further with leg machines so be it. The osteoarthritis is not likely to go away. I don’t like taking the Meloxicam and all that goes along with big pharma. I’ve tried some CBD and honestly it does nothing for the arthritis despite what Willie may “advertise”.

I just bought a low frequency infrared light on Amazon. Mercola talks about them all the time.

Primarily, infrared light’s ability to alleviate pain is rooted in its unique interaction with bodily tissues. By gently penetrating the skin and reaching deeper layers, it prompts a vasodilatory response, meaning blood vessels expand to improve blood flow. This heightened circulation brings with it a surge of oxygen and nutrients to the afflicted areas, effectively soothing pain and aiding in the body’s natural recovery processes. This holds particular promise for individuals struggling with conditions like arthritis, muscle discomfort, and even post-injury recovery.

I just brought this one on Amazon. It was on sale for $99.
Comfytemp Red Light Therapy for Body, Large Infrared Light Therapy Pad, 12″ x 24″ Red. It has several different setting to use it for different things. It wraps right around the body . So you can get it very close to the skin. It feels like you’ve been out in the sun after using it.

Checking foods that contain boron many do. The kicker for fruits and vegetables is the soils they grow in. Evidently the use of non organic fertilizers depletes the minerals in the soil from where fruits and vegetables “absorb” their minerals. I know this is elementary. Prunes, eat lots of prunes. Side effects of boron include diarrhea. Skip the borax and boron tabs and eat a bunch of prunes. After weighing all this I think I’ll bypass boron supplements and borax. My diet is very stable and not one of excessive processed foods. All the foods listed as good sources of boron are in my frig or cabinets. Lentils. Love ’em.

It’s a very good system of exercise and relaxation that can help almost everyone have better health and a more focused life.

Why would you oppose that?

Probably you avoid numerals because they have Muslim roots.

I read in the New Testament relating to the end times and how good would be deemed bad

A prediction or a game plan? The Bible, 1984, Brave New World, Alex Jones.

I saw an eagle fly, so I know it was prophesy not a plan worked for the last 2,000 years. That’s my realism. In 10,000 years humanity went from chucking rocks to sending probes into deep space. That’s my fatalism. You cats don’t understand organic or messianic time.

(((Valter Benjyamen)))) sayeth:

——-

Historicism contents itself with establishing a causal connection between various moments in history. But no fact that is a cause is for that very reason historical. It became historical posthumously, as it were, though events that may be separated from it by thousands of years. A historian who takes this as his point of departure stops telling the sequence of events like the beads of a rosary. Instead, he grasps the constellation which his own era has formed with a definite earlier one. Thus he establishes a conception of the present as the ‘time of the now’ which is shot through with chips of Messianic time.

The soothsayers who found out from time what it had in store certainly did not experience time as either homogeneous or empty. Anyone who keeps this in mind will perhaps get an idea of how past times were experienced in remembrance–namely, in just the same way. We know that the Jews were prohibited from investigating the future. The Torah and the prayers instruct them in remembrance, however. This stripped the future of its magic, to which all those succumb who turn to the soothsayers for enlightenment. This does not imply, however, that for the Jews the future turned into homogeneous, empty time. For every second of time was the strait gate through which Messiah might enter.

——-

In summary, “Ve vill get you,” (((he))) says. “Yah, however long it takes. Think small little goyem. Think superstition. But don’t think at all, ven ve are thru vis u.”

The answer is right before you. TPTB – the tippy top of them – already control over half of the world’s wealth. They have no need for more as they have consolidated all the power they need for the complete & hostile takeover of planet earth. There isn’t anything that is not within their immediate reach, there is no industry that they have not overtaken, no hole in which to hide secrets from them. None of this matters to them any longer as they understand that they cannot be touched(unlike the little kids they touch). That’s why they broadcast their moves as they have no fear of reprisal from the serfs and anyone that stands in their way meets their fate because no lives matter.

However…their daddy – the evil one – creates nothing. He can only seize occasions as they arise and use them for his end goal. Whatever is next hasn’t been written in the hearts of men yet, because our Creator will have the final say.

I read your piece at like around 545am pst and wrote a short reply ( had to go to work ) to it but forgot to push the post comment button on it !!! Any way excellent and thought provoking piece Uncola, and really quite similar to the way I actually balance / evaluate / think about such questions ,only difference is is that I lack your writing ability to articulate it into words that make my intent/ thinking clear enough .
So realism is where its at from my point of view . while I have swallowed the bitter black pill that there are definitely no even remotely ” easy “solutions or tinkering around the margins /minor course correction” fixes ” to the myriad and multi layered strata of just implacable problems and serious holes that we’ve dug our selves into on a seemingly endless list of issues . Still , even after all that , still , that simply “is what it is ” and whether or not it is unfortunate or not is irrelevant that it is what we must face as long as we are still sucking oxygen and so we get to decide , and perhaps this is the only thing we really do have any control over , how we will react come what may . That’s really all we have and really all we’ve ever had in terms of exercising our free will , whether it was when we lived with an unrealistically rosy world view, as most of us have in the past at some point in time, or we’re looking at the stark reality of what we can expect going forward ( it cant do any thing but get worse barring some miraculous sea change , mass change of attitude and word view among the population , which isn’t realistic for a bunch of reasons mostly reaed to incentives of the perverse variety ). So be it , this will define our lives ( whats left of them in many cases ,like myself north of 60 now ) going forward . make the best if whatever” it” is , because whatever” it” is , that’s just what” it is” and simply wishing it we’re something else ( dreading “what is”)isn’t going to do any good as far as I can tell . Dreading what is can be seen in my opinion as the equivalant as” railing against reality” which in my opinion is essentially a defining characteristic of mental illness . And no , most people arent really sane, as that would indicate , for if most people were sane well we wouldnt be in all of these seemingly implacable holes to start with . It seems to me anway but hey I cant get any traction with the irrational optimists or the ” gettin there share in the now perversely incentivized types that probalby make up the bulk of the perpetuators of the Beast system ( they are ” luke warm ” in scriptural jargon , its not that they really all that overtly bad so much as it is that they really arent very good and I dont know if that is an apt description of what is meant by the term ” banality ” as it relates to evil or not but I’ll take it .Thanks for sharing your big picture thoughts . I think we all share similar ones as yours , else why would we end up at TBP ?Cuz everywhere else is just too many parts ” fake and gay” on some level to do the trick anymore ..

Well I happen to believe in a “quickening “of not only the universe( which is a real physic(s-)ally quantifiable phenom , and at some point I predict it’ll probably start slowing down again, cuz duh, that the way shit works ) but also mans activity pace , due to in large part technological advancement , ( Dad said Grandpa’s estate probate took so long therefore his older brothers would likely take that long , I said it’ll go a lot quicker cuz info travels hella faster than it did in 1970 as an example ,and I was right ) so maybe it was stretched out more the further you go back in time . And again ,all of our numbers and symbols are merely our symbolic representations of the actual things we are trying to make sense of . They are helpful in that sense but let us not confuse our symbolism for the things we are using them to quantify . Like I said somewhere 360 degrees times 60 minutes times 60 seconds breaks down the natural table of trigonometric elements into 1.296 million different incremental points but really you could continue to slice it down finer and finer into infinity I suppose . But even then thats just our undertanding of something that we do not fully understand and probably never will .

Do you write speeches for Kamala Harris?

Theories of whether the universe will someday start contracting or keep on expanding forever both arise from the same measurements (estimations?) of physical phenomena.

“Like I said somewhere 360 degrees times 60 minutes times 60 seconds breaks down the natural table of trigonometric elements into 1.296 million different incremental points but really you could continue to slice it down finer and finer into infinity I suppose.”

Of course, the circumference of a circle can be divided infinitely, because it starts as a solid circular line. How is knowing that helpful?

Anyway, in my estimation, cyclical phenomena have causes which can be discovered, and the approx. 80 year cycles I see described here haven’t had their cause described sufficiently clearly for me to think other than that they are simply creations of people, and people, as you may know, are designed to see patterns, even sometimes where no pattern exists.

Look, the cyclical nature of everything is central to a mature understanding of how the world works, in my opinion . As for Fourth Turning theory specifically , well that’s just another way to mentally chop up and quantify into integrals of symbolic representation what ” is ” . The ” is” isn’t dependent upon our symbolically represented understanding of it in order for it to be . I choose to focus on our points of agreement rather than our points of disagreement . We see the same things/ trends thru different eyes . Fourth Turnings ,Fourth Schmurnings. We were all already talkin bout “hard times makin strong men” and so on before we ever heard of Strausss and Howe . And here;s my objection to the seaculum ( 80 years )it has to be contingent on one specific generation of people while meanwhile their are all different possible generations sprouting up all the time aren’t their? . Its like a “multiverse” of seaculums out there , except in the case of the generations we know for a fact that they all exist , unlike the Multiverse theory . No , Fourth turnings isn’t the end all be all of understanding” irrational exuberance”, “the business cycle” , “moral hazards ” ,” affluenza ” and what the fuck ever else you wanna . Hell ,even Chauncey Gardener knew that everything has its season and that there is a time for every purpose under heaven , Just deal with it .

no, youngster, God does not have things “all planned out”. Perhaps you have heard of “free will”. He created, watched the fall that brought disobedience into the world – that thankfully He made provision for…
He watches as we turn our backs on Him, as well as the offered provision; and as any father would for his children – He hopes we pull our heads out and “in all your getting, get understanding”. But the seduction of the world (satan’s influence) is strong, promotes disbelief, and so misleads those who are weak minded and weak willed.

I think so, otherwise I think you must be talking about some small “g” conception of god like the Greeks had ,petty little ones that they were , well most of em , Aristotle had his” Unmoved Mover ” as a First Cause so ,but we puny humans get hung up on temporal constraints that just don’t concern Him so we neccasarilly just cant understand his ways anymore than we can comprehend a universe with more than the three ( four actualy )that limit our ability to understand how we can simultaniously have individual free will while at the same time ,” He’s got this “,”hold His beer”, in the end . You can see it here in the comments at TBP.
More and more regulars are just lashing out in all directions, mostly incoherently, as they -at least subconsciously- realize there will be no way for them to sit this one out.

At this point I am pretty sure 2008 was not the trigger. Probably the 2014 Maidan coup in Ukraine, or maybe Sept 16th 2019 if you prefer financial inflection points. Trump actually acted (only) as a big “pause” button in the current Turning for almost 4 years (up to January or March 2020). And there will be no second term for him; through crook, assassination, or ‘suspending’ the election under some pretense, he will not be allowed to become prez again.

As events in Gaza are clearly showing, “whom the Gods want to destroy, they first make mad.” So the craziest thing you can imagine the West doing, will probably happen. I’d go for either a US-led war against Iran (in which Russian-made S-400 systems will shoot down large numbers of USAF planes), or the US succeeds in leading Taiwan down the primrose path and in the subsequent war with China loses a significant part of it’s Navy. The good news is it won’t be both, as the first-picked event of those two will destroy the US power (with or without nuclear exchange, by choice of the US).

So, it’s now the time you should be at peace, with help of the philosophical/religious framework of your choice, as otherwise you will not survive these upcoming events mentally intact.

I watched the warehouse manager bring all that around the building and up front with the forklift. He was a very accomplished fork lift driver, warehouse man all his life ( Tru storie).

Patrons were still allowed in the store only had to walk behind the pallets. There was great concern those BLMers might work their way to the store located several miles from the wal mart. BLMers be throwing bricks through the entry way glass doors. All inside packing and waiting to defend the store. I only declared if some idiot threatens me I’ll unload. Tru storie, dipstick.

Beautiful. What Uncola experienced is the called the waking Dream. Waking dreams are real and it’s for the individual having them. Here is a book about them. They are given to us from the holy spirit.

Wake up to the true significance of each moment!

A woman breaks open her Chinese fortune cookie and reads the slip of paper. “Don’t fall back on old habits,” it says. She looks at the unlit cigarette in her hand – her first in months – and puts it away. While driving, a young man thinks of recent struggles which helped him overcome barriers to happiness in his personal life. Suddenly five sheep jump the fence bordering the highway and dart to a patch of lush green grass in the center divider. Meanwhile, the lecture tape on his car stereo underlines what he sees: “The grass is greener on the other side.”

Within this book are fascinating examples from real people who learned to listen to their own inner language – the secret language of waking dreams. Through humble sources they found insights into burdensome problems, prophecies, and even warnings.

Are you overlooking the countless ways life speaks to you for your benefit? Examples and easy techniques in The Secret Language of Waking Dreams will help you:

I have had many waking dreams. They are simple, yet profound. Typically you will get the dream and then a confirmation or even several. Right after I retired, was at a Chinese restaurant, and my fortune cookie was empty. I knew it meant I would make my own reality, and the next day it was confirmed when I got another empty fortune cookie. These are the only two empty fortune cookie’s I have ever received or seen.

I’ve had what I term a couple of prophetic type dreams but they we’re allegorical ( ?) in nature . One , I call The Institutional Bully and the other The Unchecked Lion Loose In The Streets . The Instituional Bully was simply myself and perhaps several dozen other people sitting in like a classroom or conference room at those long fold up tables with a literal bully , of ethnic or other than white heritage walking around to all the tables threatening people , when he got up to me I stood up from my seat before he had a chance to speak or try to intimidate me ,because I suppose I have a warrior spirit and didnt want to be at a tactical disadvantage for whatever was to come once I stood up to him. And yeah , if I’m honest I did not do this without fear but that dream was quite some time ago ( 20 years?)but i did stand up to him ,and of course that’s when I woke up . The unchecked lion was simply myself walking thru some metropolitan area ( I live in the sticks ) I suppose their we’re other people mulling about in the background who may have scattered once they saw the lion ,when a huge male lion, like in Africa comes into sight and up towards me then a police officer comes into the scene . The cop looks at at me and gives me that look like ” you’re on your own ” and leaves , and of course again this is where I wake up.The lion dream was probably 15 years ago .

Nice. I have kept a dream journal for the last 45 years. To me dreams are part of the many mansions Jesus talked about. To not dream and record them is to miss out on a very important facet of life. Every important thing that has ever happened to me has been in my dreams first. The best one was meeting my wife to be. Then, the 2nd time I saw her, the inner voice told me flat out there’s your wife to be. That was 37 yeas ago this January. Many blessings.

I didn’t initially think they were prophetic, though they were vid and stuck with me , but clearly in the fullness of time you can see that the institutional bully and loose lion / apathetic official protector dream is allegorically accurate to what we now see going on with our institutions of government. You’re on your own in the streets of these big cities dont expect the cops to protect you , and yes the institutions are now obviously bullying the citizens and there is a racial element to that ,since I have to spell the obviousness of those dreams out for you .

Regardless of any injustice, the thing that has you all torqued up IS happening. Accept that.

As for the Courage to Change the things I can…, one reflection had me thinking what can be changed is what you touched upon Doug. We can change how we think about something.
Not in a Pollyannish way, denying that it’s happening, or denying that it sucks, but accepting it is what it is.
Now, how can we use our brain to empower us, instead of shackling us?
Then write those ideas down.
Not all of them will be good, but a few might be good ways to focus efforts,
both mental and physical. Then act. Ideas without actions are useless.

I’ll close my 2 cents worth, by repeating verses 2 and 3 from The Serenity Prayer.

Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time.
Taking, as He did, this life as it is, and not as I would have it.

The three mindsets that are prevalent, here on Gab:

– God is in control so I don’t have to do a thing.
– Trump, alone, will save America so all that is required of me is to simply vote.
– White hats are going to save America but first we have to let it be ruined.

The common thread through those mentalities is that nothing is required of the People for America to get saved.

When one realizes that the ONLY way that America gets saved is if the People get back to the founding principles that provided freedom and kept the corruption in the seats of power to a minimum, those three mentalities are seen as the ridiculous notions that they are. The programming of the minds away from what secured our free state/s becomes obvious.

Americans are looking to government to fix government. That’s fucked up.

I have no idea what the title of this article is supposed to mean. “Sense of fatalism” seems nonsensical. Uncola, I think you try too hard with that stuff. And so I tend to pass it by when I can’t make heads nor tails of what might be in the article given I can’t understand the title.

Uncola
Uncola
  Llpoh
January 16, 2024 11:14 pm

Actually, Llpoh, here is the background on that title:

In the middle of Donald Trump’s presidency, prior to the 2018 U.S. Midterm Elections, I posted a Trump / Qanon MAGA video and conducted an informal poll here on TBP. It was posted in early July of 2018 and titled “Informal Quick Poll: Future Proving Past Reality? – or – Bullshit Hope Porn?”.

Although the video is gone now and the up/down votes have disappeared, the poll showed a majority of TBP readers still possessing hope that Trump was going to drain the swamp.

In one of my comments posted in that “poll” thread, I recorded the stats as follows: 222 TBP readers watched the 13 min video and voted = 60% believing and 40% calling it B.S.

So, a few days afterward, I posted the article linked below (and hyperlinked into my above article too), with these somewhat sardonic opening words which contained the title you dislike so much:

When I first had the idea to write this piece, it was going to justify my own overwhelming sense of foreboding regarding future events that, to me, seem as inevitable as gravity drawing water down a drain. I wanted to defend my perspectives against those who still have hope. First, I would parse the meanings of pessimism, fatalism, and realism, and then use persuasive language to show how I was merely being honestly realistic because math.

I was going to entitle the essay “Embracing Realism with an Attitude of Pessimism and a Foreboding Sense of Fatalism” and demonstrate how I was not a pessimist or a fatalist per se, but rather a realist. I would then use that construct to demolish any remaining hope still aflame within the hearts of the readers; as a favor to them.

Pessimism, Fatalism, Realism, Optimism, Hope

Uncola’s new genre is pseudo-intellectual fantasia for the yucks and clicks, maybe for the deconstruction for all I know. Several commenters here wrote about changing one’s personal reality. They don’t wish to understand that we are fighting to adjust our shared reality to our different likings. George Carlin called it ‘willful ignorance’. In the comments on Uncola’s first effort in this new genre, at least the first one I noticed, this article is his second that I noticed, he insisted objectivity or reality was my religion or some such because, he asserted, everyone is religious. All perspectives are ‘religion’. There is really nothing to say to someone who narrates you for social influence and one-upsmanship.

What I did say was that all debates are rooted in theology, one way or another. If you don’t believe in God, that argument is rooted in theology. Beyond that, your own perspectives (especially ‘willful ignorance’) are decisions that belong to you. Free Will, and all that

I think it’s just the truth. Without Divine intervention, America would not have been created, and it was created as a new order, one where the People were Sovereign and the government was our servant. You know, the world turned upside down.

it only takes about 45 minutes.
At the Christian translation, the children are taken FIRST!!! The children, elderly, and infirm are taken FIRST!

This occurs in front of seven billion eye witnesses and on millions of live videos in real time.
The rest of the secular world BLAMES American the trans/gay movements, with using a “wunderwaffe” and taking them.
In 45 minutes, the entire world reduces CONUS to a 3000 mile wide, 4000′ deep pit of “boiling gray goo”. Lethal to approach at just 25 miles out. England, too.
Hence the ABSCENCE of US mentioned even ONCE in the ENTIRE Christian Bible. we’re ALREADY gone when it “goes down”…

Yes.
The children, elderly and infirm were taken along with a lot of healthy middle aged.
They were taken by their greedydesire to save their own lives from the pretend disease.
Yep, they self raptarded into sheol.

Could be the eagle was an omen.

Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Or ?

Obadiah 1:4

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord

Unc- I am a lousy fatalist but like HSF a fairly decent stoic. Like I have said many times , humanity has from day one had the ability to redirect current events by becoming the Borg and getting on the same thought vibration. I call it mass prayer which sends some here into fits, why I have no idea? What in the world is wrong with binding together in unified thought to halt atrocities/war/famine?

I generally won’t come into a thread that has been ongoing for days but just want to say I enjoyed the article. Thank you.
