THE MOUNTAIN

Guest Post by Francis Marion

I could here the roar of the Canoe River and its tributaries as they made their descent hundreds of feet below me. I couldn’t see them from the logging road we were on but their flight was so steep and so rapid that it filled the valley with mist and noise as the various creeks and the river itself made the first leg of their inevitable journey south and west to the Pacific. The road and surrounding vegetation were damp as the mist from the creek filled the air, climbing upwards with the tips of giant spruce and pine towards the ridges that birthed the torrent below while simultaneously mingling with the sun and creating hues of yellow, blue and purple in the spaces between the trees and the sky. Standing on the road I rubbed the sleep from my eyes as the moisture slipped past my nostrils, filled my lungs and cooled my skin. Buzzard sat next to the truck and camper in a lawn chair glassing white dots on the upper ridges of the valley that surrounded it all.

“They’re on the south slope this morning feeding towards us. We’d better suit up and get going before they move off the mountain.”

Humility

It truly is a trait in short supply these days, it is imperative for effective leadership… well that explains a lot.

Humility: A Primal Virtue with Modern Value

May 26, 2016

Mark Sisson

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback about my leadership post earlier this year—particularly from people who connected with the humility aspect. It’s a characteristic I think most people would agree is in short supply these days, but most of us still admire it when we see it. In truth, little in our culture today encourages a humble disposition, and I think that’s a relatively new development. More than ever it seems to be the loudest, boldest, and (often) most obnoxious voices that garner our attention. Brashness somewhere along the line became an asset rather than an irritation. We’re told we need to do more, be more, have more, “fight” for what what we presumably deserve, and push our way to the front if we want our good in life. Put yourself out there, talk yourself up, and—above all—look out for number one. Is anyone else exhausted by these instructions? The key (and related) question of the day, however, is this: what would Grok have said about this social shift?

Muck’s Notes on Trading 5/27/16

Note from Muck About PM markets 5/27/16

This afternoon, after lunch, I hit the sell point for the silver speculative stocks I own..

I always, when I purchase stocks, let the winners run until they get tired and have a pre-set sell point in case they have a sell off.

My silver portfolio, in whole, tripped the lower limit of my current profit point and I dumped all my spec silver stock about 10 minutes ago (3:45 PM EST)..

I always check my speculative stock values at 9:45 AM EST (giving time for the markets to settle out) and I check them again at 3:30 PM EST.  If I show an overall profit for the day at the 3:30 PM check, I’m aboard another day.

If I show a loss at the PM check, I check the loss against my preset max loss level and if it exceeds it, I have the last 30 minutes of the market day to clear my holdings and maximize the profits I have left.

This rally in Silver stocks ran me up to a $15,000.00 profit.  My lower cut off was $10,000.00.  Today at 3:30PM, my profits dropped to $9934.00.  I dumped all my holdings for that amount, less fees, and pocketed a $9899.00 profit net.

BEHOLD OUR FUTURE!

This post is dedicated to Westcoaster in case he really needs a recent example of what “voting for your best interests” in the form of Socialism ALWAYS brings…….EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME!

The dude with the microphone is definitely amped up on speed, meth or coke and the best part of Jeff Berwick ran down his mothers leg but this is a good look at our future……with or without Feeling the Bern. It might take a few years longer if Bernie or Hitlary don’t get selected this cycle but fear not, our destination remains the same. The video is only 12 minutes long but gives insight into how your govt will actually use the criminality of the few to control the many.

So gather ye chilruns around, make some S’mores, get yer blanky and behold our future.

Mucks’ Minute #25

Insane!

The Federal Government of this country is absolutely out of its’ non-collective mind.  Crazy.  Stupid. Insane. It (“it” means Executive and Congressional branches here) has no idea how to get itself out of the huge hole it has knowingly dug itself between 1973 and now.  The States can do no more than borrow themselves into bankruptcy (See Illinois with more coming up).  The Feds, can borrow and print all they want.  Until they can’t.

To refresh everyone’s memory, this is the way the Ponzi Scheme works.  The Federal Reserve (our Central Bank) “buys” Treasury bills and bonds (the “safest” investment, right?), credits the Federal Government for them even though Treasury bills and bonds are just printed paper at the pleasure of Congress. As a matter of fact, the Federal Reserve is just about the only one who buys US Treasuries anymore because they truly aren’t worth shit and everyone else knows it.

However, the Federal Government now has “money” in the form of digital credits issued to it by the Federal reserve.  It can now spend these “credits”, distribute checks, etc., for any task or reason it puts its’ collective mind to do.

Then the Fed, using the newly printed Treasury paper as collateral, prints currency and issued debt.. The debt is bought by the banks, who own the Fed (but are completely politicized and controlled by our famous ELITE), the Banks, in turn deposit the bonds and bills they just bought back into the Fed as deposits and the Fed pays the banks 6% interest — way, way above what you and I will ever see in the foreseeable future — and the banks then uses these deposits as reserves to enable them to shuffle what is by now Ponzi money out in loans to any schmuck willing to pay above what it costs the banks to get the money, which at this time is just about zip squat nothing.

Your Options: To Serve, Or To Serve

Beggar, thief, or trader? The choices are narrowing.

Guest Post by Robert Gore at Straight Line Logic

There are three ways for a person to obtain something of value from another person: receive it as a donation, steal it by force or fraud, or exchange for it. It’s not much of an oversimplification to say that the advance of civilization has hinged on its movement from the first two methods to the third. The right to exchange, and the right to promise as part of a future exchange—the right to contract—are now taken for granted, but those rights are delicate and a whole complex of rights, assumptions, and obligations are subsumed by them. Their intellectual foundations are being undermined as the equality of rights implicit in contract and exchange gives way to a regressive inequality of rights: servitude.

The essence of exchange is choice; it’s voluntary. Both parties have the choice of whether or not to transact, and neither will do so unless they subjectively value what they receive more than what they give up. That is not to say that there will be equality of resources, bargaining power, or negotiating skill between the parties, or that they will be equally happy with their bargain, only that both parties have the same choice to accept or reject the proposed transaction. Exchange embodies that equality of rights between parties, but not an equality of outcomes.

Americans Remain Pessimistic About State of Moral Values

Americans Remain Pessimistic About State of Moral Values
Guest Post by Justin McCarthy

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Americans remain far more likely to say the state of moral values in the U.S. is getting worse (73%) than to say it is getting better (20%). Over a 15-year trend, solid majorities have consistently viewed the direction of the country’s values negatively, ranging from 67% in 2002 and 2003 to 82% in 2007.

StateOfMoralValues1

As has been the case since 2007, Republicans and independents who lean Republican (84%) continue to be more likely than Democrats and independents who lean Democratic (61%) to say the state of moral values in the U.S. is getting worse. Prior to that, both groups were about equally likely to view the direction of the country’s morals negatively.

From 2003 to 2007, Republicans became increasingly likely to say the state of morals in the U.S. was deteriorating; in 2007, that figure reached 88%. It has generally remained close to that level since, with most ratings in the mid-80s each year. Democrats, on the other hand, have become less likely to view the state of moral values as declining since the end of the George W. Bush administration. During Bush’s two terms in office, between 69% and 79% of Democrats said moral values in the U.S. were getting worse, compared with 56% to 67% during Barack Obama’s administration.

RELIGION OF PEACE RECOMMENDS “LIGHTLY BEATING” WOMEN

I thought Pakistan was our staunch ally in the Middle East. I thought Islam was a religion of peace. How do liberal douchebags and feminazis reconcile their love of Muslims with the treatment of women by Muslim men? Muslims treat their women worse than dogs. The hypocrisy – it burns.

Via Breitbart

Islamic Council Allows Pakistani Husbands to ‘Lightly Beat’ Their Wives

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) — Pakistan’s 20-member constitutional body — recently proposed a bill recommending that men bestow a “light beating” onto their defiant wives.

“A husband should be allowed to lightly beat his wife if she defies his commands and refuses to dress up as per his desires; turns down demand of intercourse without any religious excuse or does not take bath after intercourse or menstrual periods,” the CII bill says, according to Pakistan’s Express-Tribune newspaper.

CII’s bill was in response to a law approved by Punjab, Pakistan’s most populated province, granting women protection from abusive husbands. The CII roundly rejected Punjab’s Protection of Women against Violence Act of 2015, calling the law un-Islamic.

The Council of Islamic Ideology is a 54-year-old advisory body made up of Islamic clerics and scholars responsible for offering legal advice to Pakistani legislators.

Although CII is part of Pakistan’s governmental structure, and provides constitutional recommendations to parliament regarding Islamic laws, its 163-page proposal is non-binding and does not have to be voted on by the Pakistani parliament.

According to the Washington Post, CII’s proposal “would ban women from appearing in television or print advertising and would prohibit female nurses from treating male patients. It also would give a husband permission to forbid his wife from visiting males other than relatives.”

Indeed, violence against women in The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is rampant. The independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s annual report revealed hundreds of gang rapes, kidnappings, and burnings and said more than 800 women had committed suicide or attempted to.

Losing Ground In Flyover America, Part 2

There has never been a more destructive central banking policy than the Fed’s current maniacal quest to stimulate more inflation and more debt. That’s what is killing real wages and economic vitality in flyover America—-even as it showers prodigious windfalls of unearned wealth on Wall Street and the bicoastal elites who draft on the nation’s vastly inflated finances.

In fact, the combination of pumping-up inflation toward 2% and hammering-down interest rates to the so-called zero bound is economically lethal. The former destroys the purchasing power of main street wages while the latter strip mines capital from business and channels it into Wall Street financial engineering and the inflation of stock prices.

In the case of the 2% inflation target, even if it was good for the general economy, which it most assuredly is not, it’s a horrible curse on flyover America. That’s because its nominal pay levels are set on the margin by labor costs in the export factories of China and the EM and the service sector outsourcing shops in India and its imitators.

Accordingly, wage earners actually need zero or even negative CPI’s to maximize the value of pay envelopes constrained by global competition. Indeed, in a world where the global labor market is deflating wage levels, the last thing main street needs is a central bank fanatically seeking to pump up the cost of living.

So why do the geniuses domiciled in the Eccles Building not see something that obvious?

‘The Great White Hope’

Guest Post by Patrick J. Buchanan

‘The Great White Hope’

“Something startling is happening to middle-aged white Americans. Unlike every other age group, unlike every other racial and ethnic group … death rates in this group have been rising, not falling.”

The big new killers of middle-aged white folks? Alcoholic liver disease, overdoses of heroin and opioids, and suicides. So wrote Gina Kolata in The New York Times of a stunning study by the husband-wife team of Nobel laureate Angus Deaton and Anne Case.

Deaton could cite but one parallel to this social disaster: “Only H.I.V./AIDS in contemporary times has done anything like this.”

Middle-aged whites are four times as likely as middle-aged blacks to kill themselves. Their fitness levels are falling as they suffer rising levels of physical pain, emotional stress and mental depression, which helps explain the alcohol and drug addiction.

But what explains the social disaster of white Middle America?
