The Online Meanderings of an American Nobody & the Genuine Wisdom of an Imaginary Character

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.

– C. S. Lewis (1942), “The Screwtape Letters: Letters from a Senior to a Junior Devil”, p.8, HarperCollins UK, 2009

While having breakfast with a friend the other day, they commented on an article they had recently read online.  The article was about the discouragement of free speech at Ivy League colleges, and Harvard in particular.  I told them I saw the headline but never read the actual findings.   In any event, I said I wasn’t surprised… but what did surprise me was that the article showed up on their particular newsfeed; and, for them, I would have expected the online algorithmic process to have distilled the findings into another headline such as:  “Harvard Leads Ivy League in Prohibiting Hate Speech”.

Former US president Donald Trump has splashed cold water on Western hopes that this week’s conflict between military contractor Wagner Group and Russia’s top generals could lead to the toppling of Moscow’s government, warning that ousting President Vladimir Putin could have unintended consequences.

2023: FOURTH TURNING MEETS MASS FORMATION PSYCHOSIS

“Four things need to exist or need to be in place if you want a large-scale mass phenomenon to emerge. The first thing is that there needs to be a lot of socially isolated people, people who experience a lack of social bonds. The second one is that there needs to be a lot of people who experience a lack of sense-making in life. And the third and the fourth conditions are that there needs to be a lot of free-floating anxiety and a lot of free-floating psychological discontent. So: meaning, anxiety, and discontent that is not connected to a specific representation.

So, it needs to be in the mind without the people being able to connect it to something. If you have these four things—lack of social bonds, lack of sense-making, free-floating anxiety, and free-floating psychological discontent—then society is highly at risk for the emergence of mass phenomenon.”Mattias Desmet – The Psychology of Totalitarianism

Fact Check-No evidence of pandemic 'mass formation psychosis', say experts speaking to Reuters | Reuters

“Try to unlearn the obsessive fear of death (and the anxious quest for death avoidance) that pervades linear thinking in nearly every modern society. The ancients knew that, without periodic decay and death, nature cannot complete its full round of biological and social change. Without plant death, weeds would strangle the forest. Without human death, memories would never die, and unbroken habits and customs would strangle civilization. Social institutions require no less. Just as floods replenish soil and fires rejuvenate forests, a Fourth Turning clears out society’s exhausted elements and creates an opportunity.” – Strauss & Howe – The Fourth Turning

What is Mass Formation?. And why it's important to understand it | by Dina Osman, CBAP, CAPM | Medium

I recently finished reading Mattias Desmet’s fascinating and illuminating book The Psychology of Totalitarianism, where he examines the mass formation psychosis which swept over the world during the time frame of early 2020 until present day. He explores some of the root causes of this psychological phenomena, comparing it to previous episodes in history, and delving into whether it occurred naturally or was purposely generated in order to implement a Great Reset agenda.

“Putin Has Misread the West And if He Doesn’t Wake Up Soon, Armageddon Is Upon Us”

Mike Whitney Interviews Paul Craig Roberts

https://www.unz.com/mwhitney/putin-has-misread-the-west-and-if-he-doesnt-wake-up-soon-armageddon-is-upon-us/

Question 1—You think that Putin should have acted more forcefully from the beginning in order to end the war quickly. Is that an accurate assessment of your view on the war? And—if it is—then what do you think is the downside of allowing the conflict to drag on with no end in sight?

Paul Craig Roberts—Yes, you have correctly stated my position. But as my position can seem “unAmerican” to the indoctrinated and brainwashed many, those who watch CNN, listen to NPR, and read the New York Times, I am going to provide some of my background before going on with my answer.

I was involved in the 20th century Cold War in many ways: As a Wall Street Journal editor; as an appointee to an endowed chair in the Center for Strategic and International Studies, part of Georgetown University at the time of my appointment, where my colleagues were Henry Kissinger, National Security Advisor and Secretary of State, Zbigniew Brzezinski, National Security Advisor, and James Schlesinger, a Secretary of Defense and CIA director who was one of my professors in graduate school at the University of Virginia; as a member of the Cold War Committee on the Present Danger; and as a member of a secret presidential committee with power to investigate the CIA’s opposition to President Reagan’s plan to end the Cold War.

The Ever Widening War

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

The Pentagon has appointed a Lt. General (3 stars) Terry Wolff to head a new Army headquarters in Germany with a staff of 300 US military members to coordinate security assistance for Ukraine.

Gen. Wolff is a graduate of the US Army Ranger School, a former officer of an armored division, and former director of Strategic Plans and Policy, Joint Chiefs of Staff.  This is not the kind of officer that is given inventory assignments. Continue reading “The Ever Widening War”

Berlusconi and Putin

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has close ties to Vladimir Putin. Berlusconi, leader of the Forza Italia party, now serves as a junior partner under new PM Giorgia Meloni. Meloni fiercely supports Ukraine, but leaked audio indicates where Berlusconi stands.

“I can’t personally give my opinion because if it is told to the press it will turn out to be a disaster, but I am very, very, very worried. I rekindled relations with President Putin, a little bit. I knew him as a peaceful and sensible person,” the former PM said in a leaked audio recording. He also said in the recording that Russian ministers believe they are at war with the West because of the funding to Ukraine.

FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE ON THE MARCH

“The least-bad scenario is a hard landing, global recession worse than the 1930s. The worst-case borrows from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: war, famine, pestilence, and death.” – Kenneth S. Deffeyes

Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - Wikipedia

“When hopes and dreams are loose in the streets, it is well for the timid to lock doors, shutter windows and lie low until the wrath has passed. For there is often a monstrous incongruity between the hopes, however noble and tender, and the action which follows them. It is as if ivied maidens and garlanded youths were to herald the four horsemen of the apocalypse.” – Eric Hoffer

I don’t pretend to be a biblical scholar or have any particular expertise in interpreting scriptures, and certainly not the Book of Revelation, supposedly written by John of Patmos during the reign of Roman emperor Domitian sometime between 81 AD and 96 AD. But I did suffer through twelve years of Catholic school, with plenty of time reading the bible for homework assignments. I know many people take everything in the bible literally. I do not adhere to that understanding. I believe most, if not all, of the bible is parables and symbolism written by men as a means to guide early Christians in how they should live their lives. The wisdom imparted by these writers is vast and deep. The Book of Revelation is the most apocalyptic, mysterious, and prophetic.

I would agree with scholars who say Revelation does not refer to actual people or events but is an allegory of the spiritual path and the ongoing struggle between good and evil. But, as our modern-day world seems to be coming apart at the seams, the battle between good and evil is reaching a zenith, only seen at crucial turning points in history.

Daughter Of Putin Ally Killed In Car Bombing Outside Moscow

Via ZeroHedge

Update(2310ET): Russia’s English language state RT News is confirming the death of Darya Dugina, the daughter of veteran Russian political commentator and Putin ally Alexander Dugin, in what appears to have been a targeted hit – possibly an attempt on her father Alexander’s life. RT however is still calling the reports “preliminary” until government authorities confirm the identity of the deceased.

“The incident took place on a highway some 20 kilometers west of Moscow around 21:35 local time, with witnesses saying that the blast rocked the vehicle right in the middle of the road, scattering debris all around,” according to new details in RT. “The crippled car, fully engulfed in flames, then crashed into a fence, according to photos and videos from the scene.”

“Emergency services said one person was inside the car and was instantly killed by the blast and crash – a female whose body was reportedly recovered burned beyond recognition.”

RT writes further: “Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the victim, but multiple Russian Telegram channels and media sources reported that the victim was 30-year-old Darya Dugina (Platonova). Her father, Alexander Dugin, was spotted at the scene soon after the incident, visibly shocked, according to several videos circulating on social media.”

Independence for America and None for Ukraine? (Part One)

Guest Post by David Haggith

Where is the alternative press’s usual righteous indignation over censorship, imperialism and unjust war? Why so many apologists for Imperial Putin?

Hillary Clinton's reset button with Russia being pressed by Sergei Lavrov

I am deeply troubled by what I see in the alternative media in the US right now. It looks to me like loathing for the US government has become so blinding in its white-hot heat that almost all writers (and maybe readers?) on the alt-right give Putin a free pass and even act as his apologists for an invasion he promised he wouldn’t do against a country that never invaded Russia. I am deluged daily by articles that wrongly claim the US started all of this and, so, is almost fully responsible for Putin’s invasion. I’ve even had my own readers upbraid me for calling it “Putin’s War,” as if Vlad the Invader didn’t start this war entirely on his own volition.

I’ve decide to explore those arguments in a short series because they are not without some basis, for America and the rest of the West have certainly failed at living up to all they led Russia to believe they would do. Much of that failure has been due to Neocons like John Bolton and Paul Wolfowitz, whom I have always held to the fire for their never-ending warmongering ways.

Pushing Putin To Nuclear War

Germany and France Ignites the Fuse

Emmanuel Macron stepped on two political landmines with ten days to go until the French presidential election.

First, the French Senate exposed the misappropriation of one billion euros of taxpayer’s money to fund the U.S. consultancy McKinsey and Company, among other firms, during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Then, trumping that disaster in public policy, France and Germany scoffed at Vladimir Putin’s threat to shut down Russia’s gas pipeline to Europe if they didn’t pay for the energy in rubles—and not U.S. dollars.

In the latter, French billionaire Philippe Argillier sees both the rejection of Putin’s demand and the taunting manner in which the European governments carried it out as dangerous, possibly leading to war as soon as next week. Continue reading “Pushing Putin To Nuclear War”

Politicians of the World Unite!

Via Brownstone Institute

Vladimir Putin has given an address to the Russian nation that urged his country to be patient with the current pain. He said he is working to restructure economic life to deal with the ongoing disaster in employment, goods access, productivity, technology, and inflation. It’s transitory, he explained, a result of the war sanctions, and all the fault of the West.

He has this totally under control, he says. Just trust the government.

Does the Kremlin Know What It Is Doing?

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Earlier today I posted my take on the economic and military developments on the Russian front.  Based on news reports, I envisioned a gold ruble dethroning the US dollar and collapsing the Bretton Woods system which has enabled the US and its financial sector to exploit the world.  I wrote at the time that the Western news blackout on reporting from Russia in order for Washington to control the narrative left actual facts hard to ascertain.  https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2022/03/29/the-western-world-has-had-its-run/

During today a little more information has reached me. The information has caused me to develop concerns that the Russians are not sophisticated enough to see that they can bring down the Bretton Woods system and dethrone the US dollar by creating a gold ruble, and in conjunction with China’s gold Yuan, create a bloc that rules financially.  I think all the Russians are doing is fixing the price of gold inside Russia so Russians fearing the sanctions don’t desert the ruble and flee into gold.  Possibly the internal gold/ruble price fix can develop into a broad system, but why give the enemy warning and time to prepare roadblocks?  Is the conclusion that the Russians don’t have a clue?

Is Russia REALLY “fighting globalism” in Ukraine?

Via Off-Guardian

Is the Ukraine invasion Putin moving against globalism?

It’s becoming a very popular idea in alt media right now.

Alex Cristoforou says it overtly in his latest video. Catherine Austin Fitts and Karel van Wolferen suggest it in a recent conversation. As does the Daily Expose.

Big Brave Keyboard Warriors: Notes From The Edge Of The Narrative Matrix

Via Caitlin Johnson

The only real anti-war position on the Ukraine conflict is support for de-escalation, diplomacy, and detente. Yelling “PUTIN BAD” and calling for escalations that could lead to a very fast, very radioactive WWIII are not anti-war, and indeed such sentiments are being exploited to prolong this war. 10 Reasons to Question the “Putin vs Davos” Narrative

Guest Post by Ryan Matters

The recent Russian invasion of Ukraine has garnered a lot of attention from both the mainstream and alternative media.

There are plenty of theories floating around about what’s really going on, the true reason behind the invasion and the true motives and allegiances of Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Among this entangled mess of assertions, ill-conceived opinions and downright false assumptions is a certain theory that has gained traction in alt media circles, and that is the idea that Putin is some kind of saviour, and that his moves in Ukraine represent an attack against the Western, globalist elite.

When I first saw this claim circulating on the web, the immediate thought that came to my mind is that this must have originated with the QAnon crowd. You see, in the Q-niverse, Vladimir Putin is one of the good guys and he is given the same messiah status as the God-king himself, Donald Trump.
