We Too Are Sleep Walking Into an Authoritarian State

Yeah sure it’s long.  But you know what, these guys are discussing what you will be seeing here in very short order.

I Know That It Is Hard

Robert Bronsdon (Hollywood Rob) October 2018

I am asking a lot and I do apologize to you.  It takes a lot of time and quite an effort to collect and view the information that can inform your world view.  That is why many for so long have resorted to MSM.  They don’t have the time or they don’t have the smarts.  They are too drunk or they are too stoned.  But in the end, if you rely on somebody else to do your thinking for you, you will forget how to think for yourself.  And so, having said as much, please take the time to watch these two videos.  I realize that you are busy, but you need to know this.

Maybe It Is Not As Bad As You Think

Robert Bronsdon (Hollywood Rob) October 2018

Last week my brother and I set out upon a road trip on our motorcycles.  We made two rides with the express goal of traveling along the most iconic motorcycle roads in the US.  First we rode up route 1 from LA to Carmel, and then we rode from LA to Gallup New Mexico on route 66/40.  In Gallup I turned around to get home before the hurricane hit from Baha and my brother continued on to get back to his home in Pennsylvania.  For me it was seven days of riding over eight days and for him it was eleven days of riding over twelve days.  For me, it was over 2000 miles.  For him, I don’t know yet because he just got home but somewhere over 3600 miles.

Hiding in Plain Sight

Robert Bronsdon (Hollywood Rob) September 2018

Sometimes we just don’t pay any attention to what we are being told.  The news stories are out there but we don’t have time to watch them or they are buried under the rubric of fake news.  Movies are made explaining what happened but we don’t see them. Or we see them but fail to understand them.  It is certainly the case that many people have become cynical these days as practically every bit of information available to us has been shown to be modified so as to deceive us.  Perhaps the information was created by a person or group with a very good reason to avoid a particularly damning piece of information.  Perhaps they were just misinformed, or really bad at their job.

Fact or Fiction – Truth or Lies

Robert Bronsdon (Hollywood Rob) September 2018

In the recent discussion between Sam Harris and Jordon Peterson it was clear that they came hard on the rocks over how one defines truth.  What is truth?  They couldn’t find a definition that suited them both even though they both knew that they needed to find common ground to base their discussion on and clearly they are both really smart people.

OK, Now I Really Apologize for This

I promise to stop this and start writing again.  But…this second part of the discussion addresses at a very deep level some of the points of contention that have been expressed on these pages over the years.

Opinions are all that we have.  That is a statement that is obvious on the face of it, but it is not complete.  Opinions evolve with information.  My opinions have evolved with the opinions expressed by some of the writers on this blog.

So, please take a little time to listen to these two discuss some of the deepest most frightful thoughts that humans need to work through to progress beyond blowing each other up.

Well, that went well

Robert Bronsdon (Hollywood Rob) September 2018

Perhaps it is time to investigate another aspect of our reality, and the quest to understand it.

I am pretty sure that Sean Carroll has left some pretty good sized holes in his argument, but I leave it to you all to address how he may have missed the mark.

I wonder if I should even bother

Robert Bronsdon (Hollywood Rob) September 2018

This video was made some years ago.  Perhaps you have seen it.  If you have, perhaps you have forgotten it as I have.  Be that as it may, I see that many of you struggle with issues surrounding the science of evolutionary biology and rather than rely on videos produced by somebody that I don’t have the background on, Trey Explains, I would like to suggest that you spend an hour listening to these two discussing it.  If your time is too precious, perhaps you can skip the q&a at the end.

I can’t wait to have you all weigh in on the biblical justification for the wasp’s mothering techniques and I love the bit about the nerve that connects the brain to the larynx.

Do Something

Robert Bronsdon (Hollywood Rob) August 2018

Today’s Quote:

“What is good? All that enhances the feeling of power, the Will to Power, and the power itself in man. What is bad? All that proceeds from weakness. What is happiness? The feeling that power is increasing— that resistance has been overcome. Not contentment, but more power; not peace at any price, but war; not virtue, but competence. The first principle of our humanism is that the weak and the failures shall perish. And they ought to be helped to perish.”

Friedrich Nietzsche, The Antichrist

You don’t have to agree with Nietzsche here.  Perhaps you might want to conclude that he is, in fact, misguided.  What he says does not comport with your own personal version of the word of god.  Whichever version of god you ascribe to.  But let’s take a minute to dig a little deeper into this quote.

What is good?  All that enhances the feeling of power.

What is bad?  All that proceeds from weakness.

What is happiness?  The feeling that resistance has been overcome.

Yeah I know John McCain is dead

But I don’t really care.  In fact, while I can take some joy in his demise, as has been pointed out by others, there is another entitled asshole standing in line to take up his privilege.  But the world still turns.  The bombs still drop.  The muslims still rape the little girls.

And yet:

I know there is still good in this world as long as beautiful blonds can be made wet by the sound of a 7 liter V12.
