Some Call It Conspiracy Theory – Part 1

Guest Post by Iain Davis

There are certain assumptions that are applied to anyone labelled a “conspiracy theorist”—and all of them are fallacies. Indeed, the term “conspiracy theory” is nothing more than a propaganda construct designed to silence debate and censor opinion on a range of subjects.

Most particularly, it is used as a pejorative to marginalise and discredit whoever challenge the pronouncements and edicts of the State and of the Establishment—that is, the public and private entities that control the State and that profit from the State.

Those of us who have legitimate criticisms of government and its institutions and representatives, who are therefore labelled “conspiracy theorists,” face a dilemma. We can embrace the term and attempt to redefine it or we can reject it outright. Either way, it is evident that the people who weaponise the “conspiracy theory” label will continue to use it as long as it serves their propaganda purposes.

As this will be a comprehensive article, I’ve decided to split it up into the following sections:

  • Introduction
  • How did the term come about & become a tool for defamation?

IF YOU BELIEVE

If you believed they put a man on the moon

Man on the moon

If you believe there’s nothing up his sleeve

Then nothing is cool

REM – Man on the Moon

The REM song Man on the Moon, released in 1992, is a haunting melancholy tune, with Andy Kaufmann and his life and death as the focal point. For me, the lyrics always bring me back to the simpler time of my youth, when our antenna TV could get about eight channels, we had one rotary phone, one old used station wagon, lived in a row home, and a family of five could be raised on a truck driver’s income, with a stay-at-home mom.

It’s the references to the Game of Life, Risk, Monopoly, Twister, checkers, and chess, which invoke what we did for fun when we weren’t out riding bikes, playing stick-ball, roller hockey, or touch football in the streets. Were bad things going on in the world? Sure. The Vietnam War, Watergate, gasoline shortages and rationing, stagflation, and a myriad of other damaging challenges confronted the country, just as they always have throughout history.

Oceania Has Always Been At War With Russia

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false.

– William J. Casey, 1913-1987, Director, CIA (Republican), Statement at his first CIA staff meeting, 1981

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars…

– King James Bible, Matthew 24:6

In the years prior to the new millennium, most readers of George Orwell’s novel “1984” would have considered the book to be a stark warning to mankind. However, in light of world events over the last 22 years it appears Orwell’s book was, instead, an instruction manual for the world’s financial elite.

The setting of 1984 took place in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic Great Britain which was a part of “Oceania”, a world super-state alternately engaged in never-ending warfare with two other global powers: Eurasia and Eastasia.

The INSOC Party was a totalitarian regime led by a figurehead known only as “Big Brother” and the “Ministry of Truth” promoted war hysteria to unite the citizens of Oceania by continuously broadcasting propaganda that simultaneously subverted autonomous thought and action.

Today, it appears the U.S. Military Industrial Complex of which President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned in his 1961 farewell address, has assumed the role of Orwell’s Oceania; along with the other English-speaking nations that comprise the “Five Eyes” global surveillance network: Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.  In endless propaganda purveyed to rile and unify the masses, this Anglo intelligence apparatus ostensibly wages war against Islamic terror, Russia, China, and Covid-19, alternately, contingent upon which puppet politicians are appointed to rule at any given time.

Conspiracy Theories Coming True

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

Well if anyone is whispering to me while I’m sleeping, I don’t remember when I wake up, or maybe this is all one giant elaborate dream. Putting the world together from a global perspective simply allows you to see the whole picture. It’s like those who would write and accuse me of just being a Trump supporter and were caught up in this myopic perspective of only looking at domestic events. They are just incapable of ever seeing that the real strings being pulled are from other sources outside the USA. Only now are people starting to see that this was NEVER an election between Trump v Biden. This was Trump v Schwab, Gates, Soros, and all the agencies associated with the United Nations from the IMF, WHO, World Bank, and BIS.

Fair is Foul and Foul is Fair: Hover Through the Fog and Filthy Air

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

The title of this piece was recited by The Three Witches in Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” and the photo symbolizes America’s recent history and the desired destiny for a large percentage of the nation’s voters:  An arrogant political leftist infiltrator, while donning the horns of Baphomet, holding a bullhorn in his left hand and an American flag subdued under his right fist.  It is the vision of Janus in transition, the two-faced god simultaneously seeing forward and backward; future and past.

Over the past two years, I have written multiple articles regarding episodes playing out on the national stage; and nearly every piece expressed my unease at the “movie-of-the-week”, or “reality television” vibe that accompanied those media narratives.  The episodes seemed so scripted…. so perfectly… contrived.

The recent “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington D.C. unwound in a similar, seemingly scripted, fashion.  Just like the election fraud that took place months earlier that was predicted by both President Trump and Vice President Pence many months before November 3, 2020, so was the potential for violence, and ANTIFA infiltration, predicted by AM radio hosts and other political commenters prior to the rally on January 6, 2021.

Conspiratorial Rule

Guest Post by The Zman

It is hard to know, but most likely the conspiracy theory is one of the oldest parts of human society. In fact, the popularity of conspiracy theories is probably a good measure of social trust. Low-trust societies, like you find in the Middle East, tend to be shot through with conspiracy theories. High trust societies in Northwest Europe tend to have less of it, but even they are prone to bouts of conspiracy mongering. The Great Fear that swept through rural France is a good example.

ARE YOU LOVING YOUR SERVITUDE?

“A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.”Aldous Huxley, Brave New World

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”George Orwell, 1984

Huxley and Orwell were contemporaries. Huxley’s dystopian masterpiece was published in 1932 at the outset of the rise of totalitarianism, while Orwell’s was published in 1949 after 65 million people perished in a World War and Stalin had already murdered tens of millions of his own citizens. Those were dark times. They also coincided with Edward Bernays 1928 publication of Propaganda, in which he revealed the existence of an invisible government who used propaganda to manipulate the minds of the public to insure those controlling the levers of power were able to engineer their desired outcomes.

The United States of Conspiracy

Guest Post by John Fraim

The PBS program “The United States of Conspiracy” was outwardly about Alex Jones, the super star of conspiracy theorists today. It offered that rare, trusted media real estate piece between conservative and liberal views. Outside the scope of the more controlled networks. Here, much more of a populist network for the common person in America. For the American public. It is their public broadcasting system.

Its brand is hard to beat in the current media world. One of the few independent observers of events today and reporting on them in something other than fake news. A wise and intelligent looking group of reporters, journalists assembled for the assignments. A serious sounding narrator of the program. The solid PBS logo lettering before the programs. It is a trusted source of modern investigative journalism or at least what’s left of it. This is the outward perception of the Pubic Broadcasting System.

Beware the Five Eyes (and ears)

Guest Post by Thaisleeze

It is really just a case of how far you want to take your own personal conspiracy theory.

In the aftermath of WW2 the UK and USA hatched an intelligence sharing agreement to pool information pertaining to the Soviet Union and China. The original agreement was signed in March 1946, even before the founding of the CIA. By 1956 this partnership had expanded to include firstly Canada and then Australia and New Zealand. Product from this co-operation was classified ‘secret Aus/Can/NZ/UK/US eyes only’ and thus the group became known as Five Eyes, sometimes abbreviated to FVEY.

Dave Collum Goes Deep On “Conspiracy Theories”: 9/11, Epstein, Pizzagate, JFK, & The Vegas Shooting

Cornell professor, and long-time Zero Hedge friend, David Collum recently appeared on an episode of the Quoth the Raven podcast to talk all things conspiracy. Miller Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University and is known for writing his “Year in Review”, which appears here on Zerohedge at the end of every year.

On the episode, host Chris Irons notes that Collum’s appearance was prompted by a recent Tweet he put out, in defense of being a conspiracy theorist which sparked a massive social media response and outpouring of reactions, both pro and con.

On the podcast, Collum and host Chris Irons tap into every major conspiracy theory over the last couple of decades, as well as several current events and the world of finance.
