Six Takeaways from the Derek Chauvin Verdict

Guest Post by PF Whalen

In this installment of the weekly conversation, PF Whalen and Parker Beauregard of The Blue State Conservative discuss conclusions we can draw from the Derek Chauvin trial and the verdict of guilty on all charges that was delivered by the jury. This was the most publicized and scrutinized trial of the past twenty-five years, so what does it mean?

PF: Democrats and their media have decided due process is unnecessary.

It’s not unreasonable for a juror to have concluded that Chauvin was guilty of manslaughter. There was contradictory testimony from police officials and experts on George Floyd’s cause of death, and while the standard requiring proof “beyond a reasonable doubt” wasn’t achieved in my opinion, I can at least understand why some might think it was. But for Chauvin to have been found guilty of both second- and third-degree murder seems ludicrous to me. The prosecution didn’t come close to proving their case here, and we can only assume that outside pressures on the jury affected their decision.

Candace on “The Verdict”

This is an honest and frank discussion of the issues surrounding the recent conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder and manslaughter of George Floyd.  I admire Candace Owen for standing on principle, addressing these issues in a way that offers a bridge across the racial divide.  She is a brilliant young woman able to back her ideas up with both wit and knowledge.

I hope Candace considers a run for the US House in 2022.  I believe she has an important message that needs to be heard on the national, if not global, stage.

Thanks, Derek Chauvin Jurors! You’re Safe Now. We Aren’t.

Thanks, Derek Chauvin Jurors! You’re Safe Now. We Aren’t.

To watch the hours of celebratory fist-pumping from government officials and black activists after the guilty verdicts against police officer Derek Chauvin this week, you’d think Minnesota had just won the NCAA tournament.

One man is dead and another will be spending up to 40 years in prison. How about Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison show a little dignity, with something like: “We had the trial; we’ve got a verdict; I’m not taking any questions”?

This Trial Was A Disgrace

This Trial Was A Disgrace

I don’t pretend to know if Derek Chauvin is guilty in the objective sense – Judge Mom, a conservative who sent a lot of people to jail as a prosecutor before doing it from the bench, made a convincing argument to me for a murder conviction soon after the incident – but I do know one thing. This trial was a travesty, a kangaroo court, and as a country, we should be ashamed of ourselves.

The Chauvin Trial Verdict Is In: Due Process In America Has Been Sentenced To Death

Guest Post by PF Whalen

The list of tragedies resulting from the death of George Floyd last year is extensive. The most obvious is, of course, the demise of Floyd himself; a 46-year old man who’d previously shown promise as a musician and athlete, but who became plagued by demons and ultimately died after a dreadful series of events. There are others, however… many, many others. There were 25 people who died in the mostly-peaceful Black Lives Matter/Antifa riots that followed Floyd’s passing. There was as much as $2 billion worth of property damage caused by those riots, as hundreds of small business owners saw their lives’ work destroyed in the flash of a Molotov cocktail. But based on yesterday’s verdict convicting Derek Chauvin on all charges and the recent events leading up to that verdict, the most significant casualty of the George Floyd affair, and one which may have the most long-lasting impact on our society, is the decision by many on the left, including elected public officials at the highest levels of government, to blatantly disregard and attack due process.

STAND TO REPEL BOARDERS

Guest Post by Southern Sage

Tactics - Step 4 - Prepare to Repel Boarders

A verdict of sorts has been rendered in the case of the hapless and most unfortunate Officer Chauvin. It was, of course, a foregone conclusion that he would be convicted of something. That 12 men and women, good and true, were despicable enough to find him guilty on all counts is one more ominous step on the road to the hell of civil war. About what I expected from a Minnesota jury, of course.

Jurors To Read Their Final Wills Before Giving Verdict

Via The Babylon Bee

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—After hours of sequestered deliberation, the jury in the Derek Chauvin trial has reached a decision. Before that, however, they will be each reading their last wills to ensure their affairs are in order before giving the verdict.
