GRADUALLY, THEN SUDDENLY

“How did you go bankrupt?” Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”
― Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises

Gradually, then suddenly”: How the Protecting Our Democracy Act addresses institutional decay | ACS

“I do not say that democracy has been more pernicious on the whole, and in the long run, than monarchy or aristocracy. Democracy has never been and never can be so durable as aristocracy or monarchy; but while it lasts, it is more bloody than either. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than aristocracy or monarchy. It is not true, in fact, and nowhere appears in history. Those passions are the same in all men, under all forms of simple government, and when unchecked, produce the same effects of fraud, violence, and cruelty.” – John Adams

Hemingway’s famous quote about going bankrupt connects with so many because it is true on a personal basis and a civilization basis. It applies to individuals and empires in decline – like the American democracy. John Adams realized two centuries ago democracy was no better than monarchy or aristocracy over the long haul. We were handed a Republic by Franklin and his fellow revolutionaries, but we failed to keep it almost from the very birth of this nation.

As we rush towards our World War 3 rendezvous with destiny, aided and abetted by politicians placed in power by globalist billionaires hellbent on the destruction of our way of life, so they own everything and you own nothing, I can’t help but ponder who is to blame and could we have avoided this dystopian outcome.

Down With the Presidency

Submitted by CCRider

Guest Post by Lew Rockwell

The modern institution of the presidency is the primary political evil Americans face, and the cause of nearly all our woes. It squanders the national wealth and starts unjust wars against foreign peoples that have never done us any harm. It wrecks our families, tramples on our rights, invades our communities, and spies on our bank accounts. It skews the culture toward decadence and trash. It tells lie after lie. Teachers used to tell school kids that anyone can be president. This is like saying anyone can go to Hell. It’s not an inspiration; it’s a threat.

Lew Rockwell

The Irony of Weaponized Humor Making Medicine of Laughter

Presented for consideration…

The secret to humor is surprise.

– Aristotle

In my “On Viral Attacks by Benevolent Benefactors” article, humor and meme warfare were discussed as a means to counter current (and past) Orwellian establishment narratives.  I wrote therein:

… let their lies, tokens, and idols be smashed, at the very least, by online memes. Humor is a powerful force; and funny too

DEMORALIZED, DEPRESSED, DETACHED & DEFIANT

Image result for occupy wall street hot girl

I’ve now been running The Burning Platform blog for over ten years. It’s been over eleven years since I wrote my first article – Why We Need Ron Paul – in May 2008 during the Republican primaries. I really thought I could change enough minds through my writing to influence voters and help wake up people to the truth about our deteriorating financial situation. I would send op-eds to my local paper, and they would publish them. My articles on Seeking Alpha in 2008/2009 were the most read and commented on their site.

My assessment of the Wall Street banks, coming financial crisis and recession were accurate enough that I was being sought out by Glenn Beck on CNN, Neal Cavuto on Fox, and Maria Bartiromo on CNBC to be interviewed on their shows. I didn’t want that kind of attention, since it would likely have negatively impacted my day job – which actually supported my family.

Lew Rockwell: US Fascism behind Websites Purge

undefined

In a new interview with host Tom Woods at the Tom Woods Show, libertarian communicator Lew Rockwell provided a fascinating critique of private technology companies such as PayPal and the Google subsidiary YouTube recently ending their provision of services to organizations they deem unworthy. Rockwell, chairman of the Ludwig von Mises Institute and publisher of the popular website lewrockwell.com, identifies the companies’ decisions as part of the shift toward fascism in America.

US ‘Greatest Threat To World Peace’? With Lew Rockwell

A recent poll of people in 30 countries showed that most respondents find the United States to be the greatest threat to world peace. The results are similar to those of another poll four years ago. Is it true? In today’s Liberty Report we are joined by Mises Institute founder Lew Rockwell to take a look at all the places where the US military empire operates and how that contributes to the negative perception of the US overseas. Do citizens of any country anywhere look at the arrival of US troops and say to themselves, “thank goodness, now we’re safe,” asks Lew Rockwell. Plus don’t miss Lew Rockwell’s excellent explanation of why you should join us in Washington, DC next month for our annual peace and prosperity conference!
