Last week, with self-satisfied glee, savages tore down the 14-foot statue of Robert E. Lee designed by the French sculptor Antonin Mercie and installed in 1890 on land deeded to the state — in return for a promise that the Commonwealth of Virginia “will hold said Statue and pedestal and Circle of ground perpetually sacred to the Monumental purpose to which they have been devoted and that she will faithfully guard it and affectionately protect it.”

Wise men have said if we don’t learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it; however, if history is twisted like a pretzel by progressives, a confused generation will accept fables as facts. That is not accidental but planned and pernicious.

George Orwell warned, “The most effective way to destroy a people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of history.”

That has been happening since the zealots, pretending to be sensitive about imperfect people, started removing portraits and statues of historical persons. The anti-historical fanatics are tearing out the guts of this nation.

The Confederacy has been the excuse for some of today’s rioting, property destruction and grossly uninformed statements. Among the latter is the testimony before the House Armed Services Committee by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley in favor of renaming Confederate-named military bases. He said: “The Confederacy, the American Civil War, was fought, and it was an act of rebellion. It was an act of treason, at the time, against the Union, against the Stars and Stripes, against the U.S. Constitution.”

I probably would have been a history major in college if I didn’t feel the need to make enough money to support myself and my family. I chose a business major and decided studying history would be my hobby. Over the years I’ve taken a particular interest in the Civil War. You could even call me a Civil War buff.

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley trashed alt-left antifa anarchists who are tearing down statues they suddenly find racist, saying they need to calm the hell down.

Barkley slammed the liberal lunacy of destroying confederate statues around the country because they’re “racist.”

Leftist anarchists had no problem with these same statues during the 8-year presidency of Barack Obama — the nation’s first black president.

The historical monuments only became “racist” after President Donald Trump took office. Why? Because today’s liberalism is a mental disorder marked by hypocrisy, a willful ignorance of facts, criminal behavior, and selective outrage.

Barkley — who was born in Alabama — shared his thoughts in an interview with Rick Karle, the sports director at WRBC-TV in Birmingham, Alabama.

What do you know, long about Wednesday, August 16, 2017, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Cal) discovered that the United States Capitol building was infested with statues of Confederate dignitaries. Thirty years walking those marbled halls and she just noticed? Her startled announcement perked up Senator Cory Booker (D- NJ) who has been navigating those same halls only a few years. He quickly introduced a bill to blackball the offending statues. And, of course, the congressional black caucus also enjoyed a mass epiphany on the bronze and stone delegation of white devils.

OVERWHELMING PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR KEEPING STATUES

Even with the left wingers at NPR/PBS conducting the poll, support for keeping the Confederate statues in place is overwhelming. Even blacks favor keeping them in place. This poll shows how ridiculous the left wing media and left wing race baiting politicians are in demanding the immediate removal of these statues. The lefty MSM channels will not be reporting these poll results because it does not fit their divisive narrative. Average Americans across the land see through this Soros led effort to create a race war in America. The lies and misinformation spewed by the MSM is being ignored by Americans who are no longer falling for their propaganda.

Most black Americans do not think Confederate statues should be removed because they are offensive, a Marist poll released Thursday found.

Forty-four percent of African Americans believe the Confederate statues should stay in place, while 11 percent said they’re unsure. The remaining 40 percent of African Americans polled said the statues should be removed.

PURGING HISTORY – JUST LIKE THE TALIBAN & ISIS

Liberal control freaks censor and destroy whatever they don’t like, including history. Obama and his minions will cheer as these monuments are blown up, just as the Taliban and ISIS do the same. Maybe the mayor should concentrate on reducing the murder rate in New Orleans, as it is one of the most dangerous cities in America.

New Orleans council votes on purging city of Confederate monuments

After months of heated public debate, the New Orleans City Council is holding a special meeting Thursday to vote on whether to remove four monuments tied to its Confederate past.

A towering Robert E. Lee statue that has stood for more than a century at Lee Circle is at risk, along with memorials to P.G.T. Beauregard, a high-ranking Confederate officer, and Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederacy. Perhaps the most controversial of the group, the Liberty Place monument, which commemorates a failed coup led by ex-Confederates, is also in the crosshairs.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu first proposed the plan back in June, and, according to published reports, he has the votes needed to push it through.
