Former chief medical advisor to the US President Anthony Fauci was questioned over the weekend by CNN reporter Michael Smerconish, about face masks being able to curb the spread of covid-19.
“There’s no doubt that masks work,” said Fauci.
“Different studies give different percentages of advantage of wearing it, but there’s no doubt that the weight of the studies … indicate the benefit of wearing masks,” he added.
Smerconish brought up the 2023 Cochrane review which found no evidence that physical interventions like face masks could stop viral transmission in the community and cited my interview with lead author of the study Tom Jefferson who confirmed, “There is just no evidence that they [masks] make any difference. Full stop.”
Fauci replied, “Yeah but there are other studies,” stressing that masks work on an individual basis.
“When you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong…but when you talk about an individual basis of someone protecting themselves or protecting themselves from spreading it to others, there’s no doubt that there are many studies that show there is an advantage,” said Fauci.
Professor Tom Jefferson, who says he is committed to updating the Cochrane review as new evidence emerges, has responded to Fauci’s comments.

It’s not been Anthony Fauci’s best week.
Forever intent on managing his image and public opinion on the pandemic response, he accepted a seemingly safe interview on CNN. The reporter was someone he trusted, Michael Smerconish, who tossed in what he believed to be a softball question.
He asked Fauci about the Cochrane study on masks by Tom Jefferson, and, in particular the author’s comments to Brownstone fellow Maryanne Demasi. Jefferson flat out said that masks don’t work to control viruses. Smerconish simply wanted Fauci’s response.
Fauci, who might have been expected to perform better, stumbled very badly. He said that while on a population level mask evidence is weak, the evidence is stronger on an individual level. That of course is a bit of a head-scratcher, especially since he cited none of the supposed studies.
Actually, it makes no sense at all. The whole point of the Jefferson paper was to examine the best-possible evidence. The results were exactly the “science” that Fauci has touted for years. The big difference is that the results completely contradict Fauci himself. Is this guy a pathological liar?

WUHAN – Well, this can’t be good: an investigative journalist – a real one, not a “journalist” who complains about pronouns in videogames on Twitter – managed to infiltrate the Wuhan Institute of Virology. What they saw concerned them: for one thing, there appeared to be multiple vials of a mysterious substance, all of them labeled “Save for 2024 election.”
Someone had scrawled the words on the vials in red marker, warning lab workers not to open the vials until they’re needed in 2024.
“What’s that?” the journalist asked in an audio recording from her phone.
“That? Oh, that is nothing!” replied one scientist.
“Then why does it say that on the vial?” she asked.

Masks were ineffective. They forced us to cover half our face to appear in public for years. It had nothing to do with health and everything to do with being a mass social experiment to see how blindly the people would obey their laws. Anthony Fauci refused to back away from the recommendation of face masks Saturday as CNN (of all networks) confronted him with a study showing that they have no effect on preventing the spread of COVID.
After Fauci claimed “there have been many studies indicate the benefit of wearing masks,” Anchor Michael Smerconish brought up the Cochrane review of masks, one of umpteen studies that have all found that the face coverings do little to nothing against COVID transmission.
“When you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong,” Fauci squirmingly admitted, but then went on to suggest people should still wear them anyway.
“There are other studies, Michael, that show at an individual level, for individuals they might be protective,” Fauci claimed.

I went to see Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer biopic with some reservations, worried that the scientist who gave us the nuclear bomb, and the military-industrial complex that spawned and abused it, would be presented in too positive a light.
I’m happy to report that Nolan actually did an excellent job of portraying the devastating toll of the nuclear bombing of Japan on Oppenheimer’s psyche and on the rest of his life. Moreover, when Oppenheimer vociferously opposed the nuclear arms race and tried to promote world peace, he was hauled in front of a committee of McCarthyist political and military hacks, pre-determined to humiliate him and declare him a “threat to national security.”

The primary theme of Fahrenheit 451 is censorship. In Bradbury’s dystopia, burning books was the principal method of censorship, directed by the government, but generally supported by the masses. A form of self-censorship developed, as the dullards, intellectually lazy, and willfully ignorant, preferred books to be burned so they felt that would put them on a level playing field with the critical thinkers and intellectually curious minded.
It always comes back to the government doing everything in their power to keep the masses apathetic, ill-informed, entertained, and distracted, to ensure their continued control over society. Bradbury believed the masses would go along with censorship because they already had television, radio, and fast cars, with vacuous programming, loud music, and unceasing advertising creating over-stimulation and distraction for the populace. They were too distracted to read a book, learn, think critically, or question the authorities.

That’s how Dr. Anthony Fauci referred to the Wuhan Institute of Virology on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, a day after the virologist Kristian Andersen warned Fauci he suspected Sars-Cov-2 might not be entirely natural. (Just spitballing here, Tony!)
Fauci made the error in an email to other federal officials he had no reason to expect anyone would ever see. In fact, the National Institutes of Health later hid it from a public records request.
Which implies Fauci’s mistake was honest. Which, in turn, implies that as of Feb. 1, 2020, he knew so little about the gain-of-function research happening in Wuhan, he couldn’t even get the location of the lab doing it right.
By the end of January 2020, Sars-Cov-2 had been the world’s focus for two weeks. The NIH was interested even earlier. On Mon., Jan. 13, after a frantic weekend of work, its vaccinologists and Moderna finalized the amino acid sequence for Moderna’s future Covid vaccine.
Yet Fauci apparently had no concerns about the origins of the virus until Andersen called him on Jan. 31. Then, suddenly, he seems to have woken up to the possibility that Sars-Cov-2 might have come out of a Chinese lab – and that his research dollars might have helped fund it.

And after the first cover-up came the second. The National Institutes of Health hid Fauci’s words, completely redacting the email he had written from Freedom of Information Act requests. The NIH gave up the note only in response to a House of Representatives subpoena – years after Fauci wrote it, far too late.
Fauci’s email is contained in a devastating new federal report that shows that political factors influenced the search for the origins of the coronavirus even before that search really began.

The highly controversial infectious disease expert who many argued made disastrous mistakes regarding his recommended COVID-19 pandemic responses has been hired as a distinguished professor at Georgetown University.
“Starting July 1, Fauci will serve as a Distinguished University Professor in the School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, an academic division that provides clinical care, conducts research and trains future physicians in infectious diseases,” the institution announced Monday.
“He will also hold an additional appointment in the university’s McCourt School of Public Policy.”
The 82-year-old Fauci, who has advised “seven presidents on crises from AIDS to Ebola to the coronavirus … stepped down after 38 years as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease in December,” the Washington Post reported.

The moniker of my website originated from a quote by David Walker, then Comptroller General of the U.S., in 2007.
