The Metaphysics Underlying The Sunset of the West

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

-Proverbs 16:25

The heart is deceitful above all things…

-Jeremiah 17:9

When small men cast big shadows, it means the sun is setting.

– Lin Yutang, Chinese philosopher

Upon the recommendation of a blog commenter, I recently read “The Crisis of Modernity”  by Italian professor and philosopher, Augusto Del Noce (1910 – 1989).  The book was published in 2014 and is a brilliant compilation of twentieth-century essays and speeches by Del Noce.  His philosophical insights are profound and his conclusions and societal predictions, especially regarding Scientism and the Technocracy, are eerily similar to those of English author and theologian C.S. Lewis  – see my previous posts entitled “The Abolition of Man Amid the Consequences of Reality”,  and “Gnostic Parasitism in the Post-Modern Simulacrum”, and “A Postmortem on Postmodernism”.

‘BIRD BOX’: Christianity, The Great Awakening 2.0, Transhumanism, and the Neo-Feudal Order

NOTE TO READERS (from Doug / Uncola):  This piece was NOT written by me, but is a response to my earlier “Bird Box” article.  The following essay was e-mailed to me by Plato Publius, a regular commenter here on The Burning Platform.  Other than cursory proof-reading adjustments for punctuation and formatting Plato’s selected headings, photos, and links, this article is posted on behalf of Plato Publius and at his request:

I find it intriguing that my observations of “Bird Box” mirrored Uncola’s, particularly his description here:

In spite of its viral buzz during the final days of the year, as we watched ‘Bird Box’, we were mostly underwhelmed, except for the ‘B-movie’ satisfaction of our ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K)’commentary as the scenes unfurled.

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!
FAITH, LOVE, HOPE

Uncola’s analysis of the “faith” and “courage” aspects of the film were amazing and VERY true, but didn’t go far enough.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Pessimism, Fatalism, Realism, Optimism, Hope

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

When I first had the idea to write this piece, it was going to justify my own overwhelming sense of foreboding regarding future events that, to me, seem as inevitable as gravity drawing water down a drain. I wanted to defend my perspectives against those who still have hope. First, I would parse the meanings of pessimism, fatalism, and realism, and then use persuasive language to show how I was merely being honestly realistic because math.

I was going to entitle the essay “Embracing Realism with an Attitude of Pessimism and a Foreboding Sense of Fatalism” and demonstrate how I was not a pessimist or a fatalist per se, but rather a realist.  I would then use that construct to demolish any remaining hope still aflame within the hearts of the readers; as a favor to them.

In fact, I even conducted an informal poll to sample the perspectives of awakened and like-minded online travelers.  Like the flicker of lanterns in a dark wood, the glint of moonlight from metal on a mountain trail, or a midnight campfire tossing sparks into heaven – I was surprised to see that hope still shined for 6 out of 10 red-pilled wanderers traveling through the entropic cosmos, beyond the great digital divide.
