Is Abortion, Not Trump, The GOP’s Albatross?

Authored by Matthew Boose via American Greatness,

Republicans should restrict abortion wherever and whenever it is prudent to do so…

How many times do voters have to send the message before Republicans get the picture?

America loves abortion. Is that cavalier? Unfortunately, it’s the truth. Decades of “me, me, me” culture have taken their toll. We are in the end stages of democracy, here, and there may be no putting the genie back in the bottle.

Nothing is ever free. Because of Dobbs, abortions are much harder to get in a number of states. The right made a bargain to save lives, and the cost is pain at the polls.

Tuesday’s election was a wipeout for conservatives. Everyone is quick to blame Donald Trump, but the real loser was Ron DeSantis – although it’s hard to say what he had left to lose.

What Tucker Carlson and the Pro-Life Movement Miss about Abortion

Guest Post by Antonius Aquinas

In a recent talk to the Center for Christian Virtue, Tucker Carlson railed against abortion asserting that it is “no benefit to society” and “it erode[s] its very foundation.”*  The former Fox News anchor called the battle over infanticide not a “political debate,” but a “spiritual battle.”**  The speech comes as the issue of abortion has heated up in the Republican presidential campaign.

Carlson is certainly correct in his assessment that the fight over abortion is a spiritual struggle, but he, like most of the pro-life movement, does not understand the larger tragedy of abortion.  The failure of the pro-life movement to stress this fundamental aspect, and to see abortion in the light of eternity, is one of the reasons why the evil is still a legalized part of the so-called civilized world.

British Woman Arrested For Silently Praying Near Abortion Clinic

Via ZeroHedge

Americans tend to believe that freedom of speech is a value represented across all of western culture from the US to Europe to Australia and beyond.  However, this is simply not the case.  While there have been numerous attempts to degrade the 1st Amendment in America, being arrested outright by police for your thoughts alone is not a low we have sunk to yet.  In the UK and through most of Europe it’s a different story.

UK laws designed to prevent the obstruction of businesses have opened the door to policies called Public Space Protection Orders, which create a “buffer zone” around certain areas or buildings and prohibit activities that, in the words of UK authorities, foster “anti-social behavior.”  Yes, this is as Orwellian as one could imagine, but it gets even worse.

Political Purges Emerge Through the Compliance of Those Following Orders

Supposedly, a mid-nineteenth-century American Medical Association pamphlet quoted Vladimir Lenin as saying:  “Socialized medicine is the keystone to the arch of a socialized state.”  Although online fact-checkers claim there is no “credible source”  proving Lenin actually made that claim, it does appear to be an accurate observation.

After all, before becoming President of the United States, Ronald Reagan identified “medicine”  as a traditional method of “imposing statism or socialism” on people.  In the same 1961 speech, Reagan claimed that it is “very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project” but, once the precedent is established, government would, in turn, form a dictatorship over the healthcare system prior to the “short step” to “all the rest of socialism” encroaching throughout society.

Four years after Reagan’s warning to America, Medicare began in 1965 as a federal health insurance program under the auspices of the Security Administration (SSA). And, today, the program is administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

When the Government Plays God: The Slippery Slope from Abortions to Executions

Guest Post by John W. Whitehead

Abortion on demand is the ultimate State tyranny; the State simply declares that certain classes of human beings are not persons, and therefore not entitled to the protection of the law. The State protects the ‘right’ of some people to kill others, just as the courts protected the ‘property rights’ of slave masters in their slaves.”—Ron Paul

The government wants to play god.

It wants the power to decide who lives or dies and whose rights are worthy of protection.

Delve beneath the rhetoric and spin that have turned abortion into a politicized, polarized and propagandized frontline in the culture wars, and you will find a greater menace at work.

Abortion may be front and center in the power struggle between the Left and the Right over who has the right to decide—the government or the individual—when it comes to bodily autonomy, the right to privacy, sexual freedom, the rights of the unborn, and property interests in one’s body, but there’s so much more going on here.

The Left would suggest that unborn babies do not have constitutional rights and the only right that matters is a woman’s right to privacy in choosing whether or not to abort a pregnancy. The Right, while fixated on saving the lives of unborn babies, seems less concerned about what happens to those lives from birth to death.

Grandpa, Tell Me about the War

Guest Post by Freed Radical

“Grandpa, tell me about the war. My friend said that ten dillon people died in it.”

“No, that’s not right. Dillon was a Marshall on TV. It’s billion, with a ‘B’. And it wasn’t ten billion, only seven and a half.”

“Ok, but I hate fractions! What happened? Why did all those people die?”

“Well it started a hundred years before the war, when the communists started corrupting our country through colleges, and radio, and books, and churches.”

“What’s a commun…”

“Don’t worry about that. They want to run other peoples’ lives. Not good. Anyway, I could talk for days about what caused the war, but I’ll skip ahead to the stuff that you’ll be interested in.”

Nancy Pelosi’s Archbishop Says Excommunication Is An Option For Abortion-Supporting Catholic Politicians

Mike Miller Via RedState

Well, this is awkward. Self-proclaimed “devout Catholic” Nancy Pelosi appears to be in serious danger of being excommunicated from the Catholic Church over her equally devout support of abortion.

Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, the archbishop of Pelosi’s home diocese in San Francisco, wrote in a Sunday op-ed for The Washington Post: “You cannot be a good Catholic and support expanding a government-approved right to kill innocent human beings.”

The archbishop then took Pelosi to task for her histrionic comments after the Supreme Court refused to block the Texas “fetal heartbeat” abortion law. Excerpts, as transcribed from WaPo:

Notre Dame Rejects Biden as the Tide Continues Turning with the Abortion Debate

Guest Post by PF Whalen

The University of Notre Dame is not a conservative institution. They’ve been called out in the past for their leftism, including their advocacy for radically strict gun control. They have several professors who are open socialists, and of course they sing the same songs from the same wokeness hymnals as the rest of leftist America, pushing for “social justice” and “inclusion.” Ideologically and culturally, the University of Notre Dame has a lot more in common with the University of California Berkeley than it does with Hillsdale College. It is for this reason that the backlash from Notre Dame students and faculty against the idea of President Joe Biden speaking at the university’s commencement ceremony this past Sunday is noteworthy… significantly noteworthy.

Buttigieg: ‘Life Begins When A Person Registers As A Democrat’

Via The Babylon Bee

U.S.—Mayor Pete Buttigieg has come under fire after claiming that life only begins when you register as a Democrat.

“Many conservative ‘Christians’ have bought into this lie that life begins at conception,” Buttigieg said during a radio interview. “This flies in the face of basic biology, which teaches us that life begins when you register as a Democrat.”

Buttigieg went on to say that women can kill their children all the way up until the point when they choose to register as a Democrat since they are not humans up until that “miraculous moment.”

Are Abortion & Gay Rights American Values?

Guest Post by Pat Buchanan

Are Abortion & Gay Rights American Values?

What are these “values” of which politicians incessantly talk? Are they immutable? Or do they change with the changing times?

“My religion defines who I am. And I’ve been a practicing Catholic my whole life,” said Vice President Joe Biden in 2012. “I accept my church’s position on abortion as … doctrine. Life begins at conception. … I just refuse to impose that on others.”

For four decades, Biden backed the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits the use of the tax dollars of Joe’s fellow Catholics to pay for what they view as the killing of the innocent unborn.

Last week, Joe flipped. He now backs the repeal of the Hyde Amendment.

Close One: This Baby Was Almost Born Into Poverty But His Mother Killed Him In The Nick Of Time

Via The Babylon Bee

Talk about a close call: this baby was almost born into poverty, but his mother killed him just before the cutoff for abortion in their state. With literally just a few days to spare, she ended his life, saving him from living a life that isn’t always perfect.
